Unhappy cannot wake up at all even with alarm clock???

This is in the right subforum i think because it's relevant to attaining lucidity (WILD'ing).

I can never get myself to wake up in the morning, even with an alarm clock and i'd like to know if i could find a different way, mantra's don't work because i forget them, and i'm unsure of anything else. Also my sleeping schedule is a bit sporadic, but i don't think it has anything to do with an alarm clock not waking me up.

Well you did say mantras don't work for you, but I find that if you tell yourself, and believe that you will, you can choose when you want to wake up.
Or you could move the alarm clock nearer to you, or get a louder one.

Really this is just alarm clock problems, so just get a different one.

mantras don't work because i always forget them.

and i have tried usuing two or three alarm clocks and instead my parents did, which they usually do when i set them, i don't know if this has something to do with puberty (i'm 15) but it's kind of stressful.

Deleted the other thread of the same title and message. From now on, if you don't feel like you posted a thread in the right subforum, don't hesitate to ask a Dream Guide or mod to move it for you. ^_^

Edit: It sounds like you're a deep sleeper. Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions, but someone else probably will!

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Obviously you tried going to bed earlier, doing more active things during the day, not eating right before bed and drinking more before bed?

i usually sleep around 12 o clock so i don't know. i like to skateboard a lot so yeah i'm good on that too, i tend to eat quite a bit before bed, and i drink some water before bed.

it might be because of the food, but thanks, i probably wouldn't have figured that one out.

Drink lots of water. Your brain can tune out an alarm clock, but I doubt it can tune out your own bladder.

      Very useful advice.

You shouldn't drink right before you go to bed, because it'll be hard to fall asleep with a stomach full of water. Maybe an hour or so before going to sleep. My guess is that depending on how fast your body processes the water, it will probably wake you up around four hours after you fall asleep.

I think you should try one or the other, then switch to see which method works better. The alarm clock is more of an artificial awakening method, while the water one is more natural and (I'm guessing) will allow for better recall.

I thought drinking lots of water before going to bed was bad? His body doesn't need to wake up to go. I don't know I just don't like the idea. Have you tried things that vibrated to wake you up? I don't know like some watch or anything that vibrates?

I sometimes sleep through my alarm. I don't know what to do about it, maybe put your phone on a vibrate alarm and put it in your underwear. Maybe turn the volume up on the alarm, put it closer to you or get an alarm with another tone. I'm having the same problems.

here's a thought. Maybe you DO wake up, but don't remember it?

This happens to me a lot. I'll set my alarm for 4:30AM and wake up at 7:00 AM, But i'll look at my clock, and the alarm is shut off. Either I woke up to it and shut it off without remembering it, or someone else did. No one else would shut it off here though, so i know I had forgotten.

If it IS you forgetting, try to set your alarm up at sporadic times. Always different. Try not to make a pattern or else your subconcious will recognize it as that and it will write it off and you'll forget.

This is all just a theory though.

I'm not going to add an LD count because I sort of don't keep count. I've had about 2-3 WILDs... i think and one or two DILDS.

this actually sometimes happens to me, but maybe i'll repeat a mantra to wake up + alarm, i dunno, i'll see how it goes.

i woke up one minute before my alarm clock went off, so i guess you can say i've solved my problem, i don't know exactly, i'd have to check back tomorrow morning.

If you continue to set your alarm clock for a certain time, you'll eventually get to a point where you wake up half an hour or so before it goes off. It has something to do with the fact that your body doesn't want to suddenly be awoken by the alarm clock, because it's too disturbing. I always wake up about an hour or so before my alarm clock goes off on weekdays. So it sounds like you're getting there.

For me I think you must wear earphone and maximize the volume of your alarm clock..I hope it can help you more..

Try Naked Alarm Clock (Naked Alarm Clock - Free Web-based Flash Alarm Clock for Everyone) and get your computer in your room and turn the volume WAY up. Make sure that you have a screen auto-turn-off for a laptop. Select the Bugle Reville alarm, it's some sort of army music so it is not monotonous and it will NEVER stop. Therefore you just can't sleep through it...if you do, all your neighbors will come because it is SOOOOOOO loud!
