      Small problem with mantras-help?

      Hey everyone!

So I would like to point out I haven't had a lucid yet, and would like to work mostly with the DILD/MILD methods.

I want to start using mantras before I go to bed but there's a problem. Whenever I try falling asleep, my mind is going crazy. I'm always thinking about things and this is going to sound crazy but before I sleep I like to make up stories in my mind and it tends to help me fall asleep.

Anways, since I want to use mantras this might be a problem because I won't be able to focus on them. I REALLY want to start using them so it would be great if someone could help.

I fall asleep similar to how you do, I don't fall asleep with my mind clear, but instead full of thoughts and stories which turn into my dreams - I've heard it called 'chaos' thought process, and you can learn to recognise it when learning to WILD.

I've found that when I have used MILD to LD, I have to be in a WBTB, as I've just woken up and my mind is a lot clearer. Try and meditate and relax a little, repeating your mantra in time with your breath, observing yourself falling deeper and deeper. It takes some practice, but with a little time you'll get used to falling asleep with quiet thoughts

Mantras work really well once you figure out exactly what works for you, keep trying until you find your own way to do it!

I use MILD as my main technique combined with a bit of WBTB. I can't keep a single thought in my mind for more than a minute or so before I get distracted. What I do is that I really believe in my ability to get lucid and try to be as confident as possible that I will get lucid on that night, because of the mantra.

Try visualizing your mantra as text on a sign. Visualization and dreams occur in the same section of the human brain. Simple math!

Thanks for the replies! Last night I actually used one and ended up remembering about 3 very vivid dreams...so yay! I think tonight I am going to combine MILD with WBTB to get even better results

      Again, thanks for the replies!

Oh right, yeah I do that too. I visualize when I do it. I use the words "I'm dreaming" and when I say them in my mind, I visualize saying them out loud, realising I'm dreaming. No problem!

Focus on your breathing for 1-5mins just breath and relax. after you have reached a state of relaxation say your mantra in a rhythm & melody type manner until it becomes a catchy tune in your head do this for 5- ten mins then go to bed with the mantra intention in mind. It is very important that your mantra will produce the results your looking for. Try to be as specific as you can and relate to something that has happened (dream sign) in a non lucid dream that you wish you would of picked up on to go lucid. Ex: Lucidity now(mantra)...walking is normal Flying is different (dream sign)
      hope this helps, namaste.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation
