      Sound Technique

      Sound Technique
      From wikibooks:
This method is for people, who can hear the “tinnitus“. The idea is pretty much the same as the other WILD methods, which is to remain conscious while entering the dream state. In order to use this method, you must sleep in a perfectly quiet place. You need that to hear the tinnitus, which is the inner sound buzzing inside your ears. Lay your body down and relax as much as possible while trying to hear the sound. This method is best combined with the other trigger, such as sleeping for 4-6 hours, waking up and trying this technique. When you are too tired, usually you fall asleep too fast and it‘s difficult to remain conscious. By time you realize that the buzzing sound will increase in intensity. This might frighten newcomers, but be assured - nothing bad is going to happen. No, you will not be deaf when you wake up, it’s perfectly safe! It is just an effect caused by your brain is trying to change mode, from listening to the ambient sound, to listening to the sound of dreamland, which is not real sound but just electrical charge inputed to the part of the brain to create a sensation of hearing. By that time, you will enter the hypnagogic state. All you need to do is concentrate, do not be afraid or think of anything, just be still, and in time your dream body will float, separating from your physical body, and there you go, you arrive in the dreamworld.

Does anyone work with this technique?

How does this work when you enter a LD? You still hear it while your dreaming?

I hear the tinnitus all the time and I was able to WILD a few times from it, but most of the time I'm too tired and I just drift off to sleep after hearing and I can't remain conscious. But for me the tinnitus is more like a calming, inner vibration in my ear.

If you are tired, you can use it with WBTB maybe...

Hmm. I'm not really clear on what you say by the noise, sometimes I can hear a ringing in my head, but normally it is induced by loud noises so I doubt this is tinnitus

The sound of tinnitus is sometimes referred to as the 'universal ringing', and there's an excellent book about it called 'The Ringing Radiance'. Pay attention when you hear a ringing in your ears during the day.

In regards to WILD, tinnitus is commonly used as either an anchor, or an indicator as to if you're falling into sleep. When your body enters sleep paralysis and you are listening to the ringing in your ears, you can hear a clear shift in the tone, and start to hear your heartbeat and breathing internally. This is known as 'real-time' hearing.

As a technique, tinnitus serves as an anchor just as your breathing, mantras, physical sensations, etc all can. It's just one of many ways to allow yourself to stay conscious and fall asleep at the same time

Not true. The "tinnitus" is not simply anchor, it induces dream frequencies slowly. After all that is writen in the technique...
