      Whats the next step?

Hey im not really sure if this is the right forum as it concerns both attaining lucidity and dream control. Basically I have had a few lucid dreams in the last month but there is no real pattern. For example I had 3 in one week and then none for 2 weeks and then 1 this week. I was wondering what the next step might be in order to have more on a more frequent basis. So far in my dreams I don't have full control and even though I realise im dreaming I still dont really understand the extent to what that means so I dont feel like i am really all that consious. I can make a few decisions but they arent perhaps what I would choose to do if I really knew how much power I had in the dream. Also I dont stay lucid long as my brain really tries to battle to keep me in the dream. I find that in my dreams its quite random how I become lucid. I do reality checks and look for dreamsigns in waking life but it my dream I never question if im dreaming. It just sorta clicks that it must be a dream from no where so should I maybe try another technique?
So other than ways to make my lucid dreams more frequent can anyone suggest ways in which I could stay lucid longer and also have more control or is it all simply down to practice? Any advice is welcome. Thank you

Don't quit. When you just suddenly remember during the day to do an R.C., that's what's happening in a dream. You know throughout the day that this is real life, and when you remember to do an R.C., you just become more aware. In your dreams, it's the same, just obviously not, it's a dream, but you don't realize it.

When you do suddenly click and notice it's a dream, you basically just remembered to do reality checks, like in real life.

What you need to do is to be able to perform them, in the dream. This will convince your mind that you are in fact asleep, and you won't have to fight as hard.

what technique do you use? (besides looking for dreamsigns and doing RCs)

if you haven't had a look at this one yet i'd highly recommend it for getting your LDs happening a bit more regularly.

Now is the fun part Now you get to explore your dreams. You could try giving yourself missions or tasks. Try to set some goals that you think will make you a better dreamer. Check out the task of the month forum for some good ideas.

      Task of the Month

The frequency and quality of your dreams should improve as you spend more time lucid. Practice makes perfect.

If you know you are dreaming then fly... or at least do a gravity check. If you do it once, you will always want to do it as it is the most fun of all LD experiences. Next time you are aware you are in a dream... leap tall buildings!
