A month ago I read a "grounding" technique here: when you notice you are lucid, touch your surroundings and your own body. Also, if you find yourself fading, rub your hands together -- you can often "feel" long after your sight has faded.
Well, for the past hour, this has served as a good lucid attainment too.
I woke up this morning and determined it was a good morning to sleep in. As I lay down, I drifted off, and found myself in a dream. It faded quickly, so I rubbed my arms and hands. Soon, that was the only conscious experience I had -- rubbing. I could still feel my entire body, so I then rubbed my eyes, and pretty soon they were open, and I saw a bright shiny scene!
Often I can feel that I am in the state of dreaming, yet I try to open my "dream eyes" and the "real eyes" open, dismantling the whole dream! In this case though, I just "rubbed" my dream eyes open, which didn't affect "real eyes" at all, because my "real arms" were laying asleep by my side
I postulate that a good way to achieve lucidity would be to lay down, rub your hands, arms, shoulders, whatever you can reach, until you are so used to the feeling that you can imagine the feeling (which is rubbing your "dream hands" together). When you have good control of your "dream hands" you should be able to rub your "dream eyes" open.
(A girl in my dream saw me rubbing myself, and she smiled because she understood that I was prolonging lucidity. Then I started rubbing her too. Smooth huh?)
