      Help attaining Lucidity?

Okay I've been practising lding for around a year now and have only had 5 lucids. What I have noticed is that if I try to have them or focus to much on dreams they don't happen. Normally what happens is I will notice I'm starting to have more vivid dreams(usually because I'm sleeping in) for about 2 or 3 days then one night I will have one but it's only when lucid dreaming is at the back of my mind. It's like I can't make myself lucidream I have to wait for my brain to let me and eventually I have one. How do I change this?

Sadly, this is how it works. You can't really force it. You can only coax it. If you want a more direct method, you can try WBTB / MILD, or even WILD.

You know, I've had alot of lucid dreams that happened kinda the same way. I'll have a dry spell, then one day I'll say to myself "Hrmm, haven't had a lucid dream in a while" then boom I'll have one that night.

So a question, how do you normally have LDs? DILDs for example? Or do you have a more direct method like Robot mentioned (MILD or WILD). Just curious how you usually attain lucidity so I can better address your question.

You put effort in, you get results, that's the way I see it. With some practice the average person will have afew lucids a month, but if you want real results, like lucids every night alot of effort has to go in.
It comes to the point where you narrow down a perfect method for yourself and it usually ends up in devoting a large amount of time in your day. A good place to start would be attempting ADA, 15minute MILDs before bed and a reality check which works great for you
