      Question Another LD!

So finally, last night I had another short but interesting LD.
I don't remember much before this part, but I found myself in a room, and there was something outside the walls that was scaring me. I somehow realized that I was dreaming, maybe it was due to the way I fell asleep. But when I realized I was dreaming, I wanted to get rid of whatever was outside of the walls. I proceeded to say fire. Nothing happened. Once again, I said Fire. Still nothing, so the third time I yelled it, Feeling the power rushing through me, the walls were blasted down with fire and the dream scene changed. A girl came up to me complaining that I burned her father, Can't remember much after that except that I was no longer lucid after the walls fell.
So I hear people say, "You have nothing to fear" but when you're dreaming, you can't exactly control that. Even when you realize you're dreaming, it's not like you stop and think "I have nothing to fear" because thinking in the dream world unless fully lucid, is like taking some drug in the waking world and trying to think straight.
So what should I do to make things a little easier?

Sounds like a semi-lucid dream to me. The more lucid dreams you have the less emotional you become. I walk around like Spock... with no emotion (although , at times, it is hard to not be gleeful) . I also avoid talking to Dream Characters as I have found the act of speaking in a dream tends to pull me out of the LD. Anyhoo, congrats on the dream!

I don't see anything here indicating it wasn't fully lucid dream. Lack of control doesn't make it any less lucid. It takes some practice to be really good at controlling your dream environment. Don't worry, it will get better. There was a post here couple month ago with some dream control "spells". Maybe you can check that out and use them or make your own, that have meaning to you and are easier to remember. Then think about them and maybe practice in daytime, so you know what to use for what situation in your dream. Please feel free to ask anything else

I had a similar one last night, before bed I simply screamed at myself with my internal monologue "YOU ARE DREAMING","THIS IS A DREAM","PAY ATTENTION", pretty much just yelling at the top of my mental lungs random awareness key phrases/words. I did this mostly because I mess with mantras fairy frequently as it takes me a little bit to get to sleep and it's easy to do, however this time I was going to bed fairly awake and energetic (I don't know why, I was up for like 20 hours, with an 8 hour work shift in the mix) so I aborted the mantra since it was starting to distract me and just went to sleep like normal.

However, I was having a pretty odd dream, even for my usual odd dreams. I was with these people, somewhere, all I can remember are weird angles and a lot of the scenery draped in darkness (wasn't pitch black or lack of lighting or anything, just the world had grim dark syndrome or something), for some reason someone (I think I knew them but I forget their face now) and possibly another person were trying to put something in the back seat of my car (I don't really have a car) but the contents were wet/covered in something nasty and it became my mission to find a container, which in this case, would be for whatever reason a tote (like the plastic tub containers at walmart or wherever) and I had to find one urgently.

I forget most of my adventure but at some point I was running along this road that was pretty odd - it was like layers and layers of rubber webbing and each layer a different drab color and it had some give when walked upon, at this point, I became SO desperate for this tote I started to gain lucidity JUST TO GET THE TOTE, this was so monumental I became lucid so I could yell "GIVE ME A TOTE" and other random commands, but the words came out strained as if I were in sleep paralysis. At this point, I was lucid so I realized I didn't really need the tote anymore and had to make my move and try to salvage this and I started to feel and investigate the webbed surface underneath my feet and unfortunately that's the last thing I remember. I'm not really sure if I got reabsorbed into the dream or if I woke up momentarily, it's completely left my brain.

      Congrats on the lucid dream!

I recommend to stablished the dream right when you become lucid. Rub your hands and spin around. Just take a moment to take everything in. This should make the dream a little more vivid and controlled.

Dream control comes with time. Just be absolutely confident you can do anything! Believe! if one thing doesn't work for you, try something else! You want to get creative with it. Imagine fire coming through the ground into your feet, and then blasting out your hands. Reach into your pocket and expect to find a pill that allows you to shoot fire. Control fire like a fire bender on the show, Avatar. There are so many different ways to do something in a lucid dream!

Thank you! I will be sure to give that all a try! Right now I'm really interested in trying to WILD, but no luck yet.

Lol, gotta hate when you can't remember stuff like that. It'd drive me crazy.

Thanks! I can't use the rubbing hands and spinning technique, last time I tried it, I woke up with my head shaking side to side. And I wasn't able to actually spin, it was as if another force was acting against me. I'll have to try some other techniques, find something that works for me.
