Non-Dild Lucid Dreaming Techniques that Don't Involve Sleep Paralysis?

      Hello
Im looking for a lucid dreaming technique that is not a DILD and does not involve sleep paralysis. I don't particularly like DILDs because they are rather unreliable and happen spontaneously and are for the most part very short and unvivid for me, except for a few. I have tried methods involving sleep paralysis, but my SP is usually extremely intense and horrifying, so i tend to stay away from that. My mind is open to any techniques that doesn't involve DILDing or SP. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you actually experienced sleep paralysis while entering a dream or have you only experienced it while waking up? It can behave much differently when you experience it while entering a dream. You can actually pass through it without even noticing it. There is absolutely no reason to be afraid of it. With experience it can become so ordinary that it's actually boring.

The answer to your question is no. There is only WILD and DILD. A WILD involves passing through sleep paralysis, but like I said it's possible to pass through without even noticing it. If you really want consistent lucid dreams then just face it. Later on you'll see that being afraid of sleep paralysis is like being afraid of your own shadow. And this fear will be just an embarrassing phase that you'll wish you'd gotten over sooner.

Sleep paralysis is over-rated. Do not concentrate on SP as it happens every night anyway. Concentrating on SP can have the exact opposite effect and cause insomnia. There is too much emphasis on SP in this forum. I say practice progressive muscle relaxation and visualization. This is a form of MILD. It helps to be positive about your ability to LD.

did you ever hear of DEILD? the only thing that you need for DEILD is good dream recall, and the ability to wake up completely still, and with your eyes shut. because when you wake up your brain is still half asleep and in REM, until you open your eyes, move around, and really wake up. if you wake up from a dream without moving or opening your eyes, you can very quickly enter your last dream, or create a new dream scene, in as little as 5-10 seconds. Only sometimes you dont get SP, but when you do go through SP while doing DEILD, remember its still very short.Another thing about DEILD is that you can also use this to chain your dreams. dont worry, even if you get SP with DEILD, its probably only going to be for ten seconds if you do the technique right.

There are two kinds of lucid dreams, dream-induced lucid dreams and wake-induced lucid dreams. There are numerous techniques, but they all aim at inducing one of those two. Now, you could perhaps argue that DEILD is a separate type, but that's besides the point.

DILDs don't have to be sporadic or any more unpredictable than WILDs. If you have decent prospective memory, read the MILD technique straight out of EWOLD (there's also an exercise detailed there for improving prospective memory). LaBerge eventually used this technique (which he invented) to be able to induce a lucid dream on any night of his choosing. It's a DILD-producing technique, so there's no SP involved, and with practice on focus and stabilization I imagine you'll be able to produce fairly long and vivid dreams.
