Question I want to try WILD.

I Want to try WILD, But I have a few issues.

      • I don't know how many hours after falling asleep I should wake at?
      • I attempted WILD in the past, but I kept falling asleep, or nothing at all happened after an hour?.
      • I don't think I even know how to properly WILD?

Can someone help me with these? give me advice, methods, links? :/ I don't think I even know how to do WILD properly, In the past I attempted it, But fell asleep, or nothing happened, and I waited an hour or so. What do I do?. I also don't know how many hours after falling asleep I should wake at?.

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

The more sleep you get the better off you'll be. Ideally I like to sleep for a full eight hours and try to WILD during the ninth after a very short WBTB. After that much sleep you're guaranteed to fall right back into REM if you return to sleep.

If you're falling asleep you are losing awareness during your attempt. First you lose awareness, then you fall asleep. A WILD is just falling asleep while maintaining awareness. If nothing happens after an hour it's because you're not allowing yourself to fall asleep. Don't try and prevent yourself from falling asleep. Try to watch it as it happens.

Don't get discouraged if this doesn't make sense. It won't make sense until you experience it because it goes against what we know about sleep. Learning to WILD actually involves redefining what it means to fall asleep. Sleep while fully conscious. Strange stuff.

Nobody does until they've done it. There are tutorials all over this forum that can be helpful. But don't take the methods within as absolute fact. This is something that you really must learn through practice and experience. Remember that everything that needs to be done to WILD is mental. It requires very little actual doing. All a WILDer is really doing is shifting their mindset while they're in bed.

I think the best advise I can give you is to check out WILD class in DV Academy. It's awesome. Explains everything very clearly and in detail (WBTB, mantras, awareness, how to create your dream and everything else). Happy dreams

But, How do you fall asleep (lose awareness) while maintaining awareness? I thought WILD was about tricking your body into thinking you are asleep? not actually falling asleep?.

When you normally go to sleep, your body and mind just fall asleep almost at the same time. With WILD, your body will fall asleep first, while your mind stays awake to watch the process. But only until your dream forms. Then to have a WILD, you need to completely fall asleep. You just stay aware in your dream.

You don't have to lose awareness in order to fall asleep. That's what I meant when I said "Learning to WILD actually involves redefining what it means to fall asleep."

You have to be asleep in order to dream. A WILD is just like falling asleep normally only you pay attention as it happens. If you pay too much attention you won't be able to sleep. If you don't pay enough attention you will lose consciousness.

Don't think of it as tricking your body. That implies the mind and body are somehow separate from one another. Your mind is your body since your body does nothing unless it's being sent a signal by the brain. You can't trick it.

      • I don't know how many hours after falling asleep I should wake at?

I would shoot for 5 hours.
      • I attempted WILD in the past, but I kept falling asleep, or nothing at all happened after an hour?

Getting up and wandering around for 30 minutes is ill-advised. Stay up only a minute or two, IMHO.
      • I don't think I even know how to properly WILD?

My version of a WILD involves visualizing the last good dream (not a nightmare) I can recall.... even if that last dream occurred days before.

Of course, everyone is different and you will need to figure out what works for you.

1.) Try 4 hours then work your way to 6 hours.
2.) If you fall asleep. Get up and do something, like go to the toilet. Anything that involves getting out of bed and putting a light on helps a lot.
3.) The best way to properly know is to try it yourself .

Or just listen to everyone else xD. Good luck .

1.) Honestly, the most successful time to WILD after sleep is different from person to person. I recommend you try out different times and figure out what the best time for you would be. I would recommend anywhere from 4-7 hours after sleep. In my experience 5 and a half hours is a good time.

2.) Yeah, that happens a lot when you are first trying it out. WILD takes time and practice, don't just expect it to work right away. Read a BUNCH of WILD guides and find out as much as you can about it. Then use whatever you learned and make something that fits you. Also..another tip: When your in SP, DO NOT focus on being in SP. Your goal is to get into a dream, focus on that.

3.) Above ^ Read a bunch of guides. You can find them in the WILD sub-forum or the wiki.

If you are having trouble, you are welcome to send me a message with questions you may have.
