      Strange WILD problems?

While I have WILD'ed before; the majority of the time while laying in bed trying to get into a LD, I enter what feels like a "near" SP state... I feel very light, and my body twists and twirls in bed like I'm weightless, However; This state is missing the Loud pounding sounds that are my auditory hallucinations that have accompanied all my successful Wilds. Anyone have know what this could be?

So, WILD is failing recently and you are not experiencing the auditory effects you usually do?

      So many possibilities.

Try your WILD attempt in a different spot, like a chair or a different bed.

      Could you share more info?

What time are you attempting WILD?

Has anything changed recently for you? (ex. diet, schedule, stress, etc.)

      Are you still sleeping well?

      Info please.

      Sure Melanieb
First of all I usually don't wbtb, instead I attempt to wild before my afternoon nap. Usually when I enter SP before a dream There is a Loud "Heartbeat" like auditory hallucination. However the past week or two I've been getting to a state where my body spins however since this stage isnt accompanied by the usual Auditory hallucinations I am lead to believe that this state isn't SP but something slightly different (Semi-Sleep-Paralysis maybe?)

Also, I am a very "Late nighter " often going to bed around 2am and waking around noon.....

Nothing has changed recently that I think would change it accept for possibly coming back from vacation so I'm sleeping in my own bed/room again.

Finally I will try on my side, the positon I usually fall asleep in, another thing it may be is I've been listening to an isochronic tone since I dont have speakers ive had to lay on my back with headphones on.
That may be it... I'll do some experimentation to try and isolate any factors..

      Thanks for the reply.

This sounds similar to me, I attempt WILDs, go to bed around 2 and up at noon, sleep best on my side.
Could you offer suggestions that you would do?
I usually get to Nrem3 , but find myself still awake and unable to drift sometimes. I focus for HH as my anchor recently.
But I also (not sure if it's Auditory H) find myself hearing my heart beat, sometimes even breathing to it.
SOmething I've noticed was, if I make a point in my HH I can start spinning around it, which causes my heartbeat to speed up and I feel dizzy after awhile,
comments and anything that comes to mind is helpful

Ugh, headphones. Very uncomfortable. Try ear-buds or better yet... get a stand alone sound system.

Modoro, when I do enter SP my heartbeat sounds so loud and feels so strong I've lead myself to believe its actually hallucinations!
But if its any help many of my wilds have been simply waiting out SP and doing a RC because of this many of my LDs actually happen
in my very own "dream" house!

But for starters I'm going to be hooking up the iHome I have with the Isocronic tone and trying to wild on my side.. If that doesn't work
I'll have to get creative as to what it may be.

I know what you mean by the heartbeat, I've fallen for it till I lost focus a bit and felt my body and felt the beat coming from myself.
How about a suggestion on how to focus on that heart beat, what have you been doing?

I don't focus on the heartbeat, just try my best to stay relaxed while not moving untill the heartbeat ends then I do a RC & boom I'm dreaming

I am doing my best to interpret properly everything you two wrote.

Also, I am a very "Late nighter " often going to bed around 2am and waking around noon.....
BgRdDragon...why do you take an afternoon nap with this sleep schedule? That sounds like a lot of sleep.

The 10-hour sleep period is a long time to sleep. Waking up around 9A.M. and then trying the WBTB might give you good results with that schedule. It's just a suggestion, you should always find what works for you.

Modoro...are you attempting WILD right when you go to bed at 2A.M. in your first sleep cycle? I'm not suggesting it's impossible, just difficult for many.

In general most of the responses I've encountered suggest not focusing on the heartbeat or anything else. You should let yourself drift and then use the little remaining awareness to carry you into a dream.

Even saying that, stick with what works for you. Everyone responds differently.
