Question I cant seem to grasp lucid dreaming!

First off im really sorry if this is in the wrong place, thread etc. Im new to the website and dont have much experience with forums in general.

Anyways, my name is liza, im 19 and from ireland. Iv been looking into lucid dreaming for a long while now, i tried about a year ago, started a dream journal, did multiple reality checks, tried MILD before bed every night, and so on, but i didint have any success and i just sort of stopped. Now im back trying again, iv been doing it about a week, trying MILD every night and WILD anytime i wake during the night, iv also been trying to do 10mins of meditation each day. So far iv had no luck, though my dream recall has improved, i think.

I really want to lucid dream, ld like to fly and talk with my subconscious and just have the general experience of having lucid dreams. I have noticed that recently there is this one person who is always in my dreams, every night so perhaps, he is a dream sign?

Anyways i was hoping ,maybe ye could give me some tips and encouragement cause, though i want to do it, i was so tired of having a task to do at bedtime by this weekend that i just didn't try, i gave my self 3 nights break, not a good idea i know and ill start again tonight. But yea, i know the first is the hardest to achieve so any help is very appreciated.

I will continue to lurk on here and read any tips i can find! thanks in advance for any help, and sorry again if this is in the wrong place.

No worries, if it is, someone will move it for you.

MILD is a very good method. But it works better if you add reality checks and awareness training to it. Here is an article you can check out Collection of techniques...for DILD.

And here is an excellent WILD (sageous) tutorial.

I have no doubts, that you will lucid dream.

Dream sign is something, that is both in your dreams and in your waking life. That way you do reality check when you see it during day and hopefully it will triger lucidity in your dream. But it's not necessary to have a dream sign.

...i gave my self 3 nights break, not a good idea i know and ill start again tonight.
It actually is a good idea. Many people report success, once they stop trying. I guess that means, that we shouldn't try too hard. What you need is excitement and intent, and it sounds like you have both.

Thanks a million for the tips, having a break felt like it helped, i remembered much more of my dreams last ight and i had less difficulty doing the MILD technique before going to sleep. Ill keep trying, i hope to achieve some kind of lucid dreaming before Christmas if possible! Thanks for the links, ill definitely look into the awareness training because i have difficulty with that. Just the other night i decided that when i saw my dream sign i would know i was dreaming, no luck, he stood right in front of me and we talked about something or other and still it didn't click!
      Thanks again!

DILD is fundamentally flawed because it's tautological: you have to already be lucid to check if you're dreaming. MILD is slightly better because it involves leaving lucid thought patterns in your "active memory". Still unreliable as hell, but at least it's not illogical.

WILD is your best bet. The biggest obstacle to WILD is usually people not being able to understand how it works, and this is mostly due to really bad guides. Try the guide in my sig.
