My idea is to use Pavlovian conditioning to induce lucid dreaming.
I'll explain one method of how this could be achieved:
During lucid dreaming, the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DL-PFC) is activated. It's not active during non-lucid dreams.
Finding a way to activate it during an REM sleep might trigger lucidity.
One of the main functions of the DL-PFC involves working memory.
One of the best exercises to perform for the enhancement of working memory is N-back training.
This is the training we can use for conditioning.
Listening to a specific song can be used as the trigger to the activation of the DL-PFC.
Daily conditioning with song + N-back will be performed.
The song cannot be played without N-back training and the training will never be performed without the song.
After some time, the song should be enough to trigger the activation of the DL-PFC.
The next step is to play the song during REM sleep.
As hearing and conditioning are unconscious, the process should work as intended even when sleeping.
Lucidity will then be triggered.
I don't know if this is possible, but I will start training for this. I also can't find any reference about how long conditioning might take. Anyway... If others want to test it out as well, please do! You can find N-back training online or smartphone app stores. It's also good for juicing up your brain!
I have some other finer details about the process, but they're not yet necessary in this early stage.

CitrusPsyche
