Odd thing that keeps me from being lucid!

Long ago I gave up lucid dreaming because of this problem but now I'm determined to master this useful skill because I don't want to throw away the time I'm dreaming. Lucid dreaming has SO many benefits.

My favorite technique is DEILD, if I try I can get lucid several times every night.

The problem is that whenever I get back into my dream (lucid) I try to stabilize it by using my senses, for example rubbing my hands or spinning. Every time I attempt to stabilize it I wake up!

I'm so close to daily lucidity and I do not want to give up this time, it's just pretty frustrating to get so close yet unable to begin my lucid adventures because of this!

There could be a few reasons why you wake up. Some of them are beyond your control.

      1. When you enter a lucid, you don't fall asleep deeply fast enough. Practice should help you to be able to stay in this stage for little longer, until you fall asleep deeper.
      2. You wake up from excitement.
      3. You fail to engage and implant yourself into the dream. As soon as you get lucid, start walking, slowly, and smell the air, touch anything that is arround you, look at the details, try to employ all your senses.
      4. It could be, that you getting lucid at the end of your REM.

I see your LD count, so I'm not sure if I'm telling something new. You most likely know all this. Happy dreams

I would recommend being more active. This will get you into deeper sleep more quickly. Being active makes the mind more active and the body more tired. This is a good state to remain asleep and aware.

Then stop doing that.... thinking abstract thoughts , for me anyway, is a sure way of ending the experience. You must think ' rub hands ' or 'spin' . These thoughts require frontal lobe activity. Frontal lobe activity is not the friend of dreaming. If you already know you are in a dream why do these things? Observe. Don't think. Good luck to you!
