      Reality checks in my dreams

I've tried various techniques to get reality checks to "spill over" into my dreams now, (if you do something frequently during the day it tends to show up in your dreams) everything from carrying cards in my wallet with events that I should remember to look out for and then perform a reality check when I come upon it (to really keep my mind on the idea of reality checks during the day) to writing a program that pops up a window every half hour telling me to perform a check, but I never seem to to perform them in my dreams.

Does anyone have a foolproof way to make sure that you do perform the checks in your dreams?

Not a foolproof, but comes pretty close.

Just repeating something during day is not enough. That may make it appear in your dream, but it will be just as any other frequent daytime activity, that pops up in a dream.

For an RC to help you get lucid, you need a bit of awareness that will give you the urge to RC and to allow you to realize what it is you doing.

If you don't mind, I'm gonna link you to bunch of threads, as exactly this topic has been rather heavily discussed in recent days.

The reality check has to be important to you subconsciously for it to show up in a dream. The easiest way to do this is by repeating the reality checks on key moments in your day. It's best to start small, try to remember to do a reality check just as you wake up for exactly one week, then for next week proceed to add another event to your triggers. Repeat this process until you are doing around 10 a day just by doing regular actions like waking up, going to bed, having dinner etc

The final touch to really get it going is by also adding in random reality checks. The only way to get into the habit of randomly doing them is by really filling your mind with just lucid dreaming for a few days. Fcous solely on doing 30 or 40 rc's a day for a few days and try to carry on an easier behaviors along with your already triggered RC's.

These two should combine to give you a good basis for lucid dreaming by having both frequently occurring and random events lead to RC's you are telling your brain to make it into a habit.

The key to this whole process is never giving up, not even for a day or two. That's why its best to start small so you don't give up. Maybe you could make out a calender with your plan for the coming month. It should take around two weeks before it becomes a solid habit.

Some level of awareness is necessary...otherwise you wont think to RC. So most times you will not think to RC. But to improve your odds figure out your dream signs, and RC during the day when you see something similar, if possible. If not at least know your dream signs and meditate on them when you have a dream and you fail to RC when an obvious sign occurs.Tell yourself next time you WILL when it occurs next.
