The reality check has to be important to you subconsciously for it to show up in a dream. The easiest way to do this is by repeating the reality checks on key moments in your day. It's best to start small, try to remember to do a reality check just as you wake up for exactly one week, then for next week proceed to add another event to your triggers. Repeat this process until you are doing around 10 a day just by doing regular actions like waking up, going to bed, having dinner etc
The final touch to really get it going is by also adding in random reality checks. The only way to get into the habit of randomly doing them is by really filling your mind with just lucid dreaming for a few days. Fcous solely on doing 30 or 40 rc's a day for a few days and try to carry on an easier behaviors along with your already triggered RC's.
These two should combine to give you a good basis for lucid dreaming by having both frequently occurring and random events lead to RC's you are telling your brain to make it into a habit.
The key to this whole process is never giving up, not even for a day or two. That's why its best to start small so you don't give up. Maybe you could make out a calender with your plan for the coming month. It should take around two weeks before it becomes a solid habit.
