      Lucid Dreaming in college

Well College came and I still find myself wanting to experience lucid dreaming.
Right at the start I abbandoned any kind of practice I had, no dream journal, no reality checks, no ADA.
Can you have Lucid Dreams without dream journaling?.My program is very tough, I usually go to sleep at 1AM-2AM and and wake up at 7 AM for the classes at 8AM, and I need a very loud alarm to abruptly wake me up or I just go to sleep again.I just can't wake up to dream journal, not to mention it would be very, VERY hard explaining my room mate why am I waking up every morning early to write at my PC.
During the day the day I'm busy with attending lectures, and after I'm busy studying.Doing ADA would just ruin my concentration/mental flow required to sustain all of this, and it would make me more tired in the end.
so a really tiring sleep program with horrible waking ups stops me dream journaling, during the day I need to pay attention, and when in the evening I'm already tired.
      What can I do?

It is possible to experience lucid dreams without dream journaling.

Upon awakening at night, try to reimagine in detail any dreams you had. This strengthens the type of memory that remembers dreams which will improve your recall.

I recommend you use MILD as your lucid induction technique. This method doesn't require any work during the day. MILD Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Reality checks, ADA, dream journaling ect. are helpful, they are not required for lucid dreaming. All lucid dreaming requires is that you become aware you're dreaming while you're dreaming. Think of it as a mind game and have fun!

Isn't it possible for you to go to sleep a bit earlier? I think getting little sleep isn't very helpful, when you want to practice lucid dreaming and waking up abruptly is also bad for your dream recall.
Maybe you could record your dreams on your cellphone/voice recorder and write them down in the evening (that's how I do it, when I don't have enough time to write them down in the morning). That's something that you can do maybe while in the bathroom..it doesn't take too much time (Of course a dream journal isn't required, but I personally think, it is very helpful to keep one) .

I have noticed a major improvement in lucid dreaming success rate when I go to sleep early, like 9-10 PM.

I suspect you still have weekends to sleep in. I bet pressures of school will work against you during the week....but tell yourself to LD on the weekends. I work a job that is demanding...I dont bother to try if I have to get up early...my hit rate on weekends is much higher.

I guess for you, the BEST possible way is to set an alarm every 20 minutes 4 hours before you usually wake up. Your brain actually start dreaming about a couple hours or less before it's time to wake up. If you set an alarm, the alarm will go off, you will wake up, you will go back to sleep, dream, wake up from alarm, back to dream, then eventually you will be like 'wait wtf this is dream lol.'
I gotta say though, people who struggle to lucid dream, are pretty ignorant, no offense. I mean, how dull do you have to be and self unaware to not lucid dream. Come on...

Do you really have to study so much that you cannot sleep for longer that 5-6 hours each night, though?
That sounds like a pretty cruel schedule.
It should be possible for you to structure your studies so that you only need to study for a couple hours each day.
I personally don't believe in studying a lot every day for several hours on end, you might just burn yourself out if you do that.
Try to find a good structure in your studies so that you study little at a time, but consistently.
I study at a university of technology myself and I have found that despite a relatively tough schedule I can get away quite fine with a couple hours each day, usually in the afternoon so I don't even need to do anything later in the evening.
Of course, sometimes it's necessary to study a little harder, but you shouldn't need to do that everyday.

I agree with Laurelindo, it literally sounds like you have no social life lol. In the beginning stages it's crucial to write in your DJ. Otherwise how could you remember your lucids? Recall is going to help you overall. It's very possible to do some RCs throughout the day. Simple, ask yourself "am I dreaming" but really convince yourself you're dreaming followed up by a nose pinch or whatever you want. Not even 10 seconds! As for your DJ, man write fragments down if you can RCs and DJ go hand in hand.

Judging by the way you wrote, I could assume you are not responsible for your financial duty. If that's the case, I will go easy. But, it is your best interest to really watch what you say online or in real life unless you want to get yourself hurt. Things you say could have different meanings to other people. Add to that, DJ is not crucial in LD at all. Not even 1%. I've been lucid dreaming for my whole life without DJing. It only helps people who are genuinely incapable of LD.

Jesus Christ, people take the smallest things out of proportions. It was just a genuine joke, you can only interpret so much through text, people tend to take things completely out of context on the internet. But hey, that's what YOU do not him. If he doesn't have any type of recall built then lucid dreaming will be quite interesting for him.

Maybe it's "not even 1%" for you because you think you have some special lucid powers, but for me it plays a huge role. DJ keeps my mind on the subject of dreaming throughout the day and usually leads to many reality checks and eventually realizing I'm dreaming in the night. Although it isn't necessary, I wouldn't cast it off as less than 1%.
And no one is incapable of lucid dreaming. Just because you can do it without a DJ and other people, like me, need it, that doesn't mean people that use DJs are incompetent. Don't act like you're some superior species of human.

You can have lucid dreams without writing in your dream journal. However, in my case this always decreases my chance to attain lucidity. You probably do not want to hear this, but I am going to say it anyways. If you really want to lucid dream than you can make the sacrifices necessary to do so. And if you don't want to, than thats fine. Just come back when you have some more time.
I would also like to mention that if you are only getting 5 hours of sleep a night you are really lessening your chances of a LD. The less sleep you have the less REM you get. I would recommend for your healths sake and for LDing to get at least 7. I know its hard, but its really worth it in the end. Good luck!
