RC failing in a differnet way

Last night I was at the end of a long interesting non-ld. It was a cabana bar on the ocean where i noticed some very good looking DCs in bikinis. I quickly done a hand check RC and sure enough my fingers where squiggly like worms. Before engaging in the obvious, I decided to follow up with a quick levitate RC and It failed so I did not go lucid. I was very pissed when i woke up and with the scene already set up, i would have stabilized before hooking up with the DCs. Gona try to recreate this setting tonight as it is one of my favorites.

      Hi AstroFlyer!

Most likely you were already lucid when you did the hand check, but with fairly low awareness, since you let the levitation RC trick you. If your fingers look odd, you are dreaming. You don't need anything else. Just go and do your dream stuff. In any case, with 100+ lucids under your belt, I wonder if you need RCs at all anymore? The second the suspicion hits you, realize that you are already lucid, and off you go!

      Happy dreaming!

Thanks Sibyline for pointing that out. The RCs are more of a habit and a reinforcement that Im dreaming. I do however enter into LDs without needing RCs from time to time, but I have found the RCs gives me a little boost. My intentions when entering 90% of my LDs is to find female DCs to hook up with and dont want to make the mistake of it being in the waking world. Your suggestion that to go do my dream stuff the second of becoming aware got me thinking. I ALWAYS know im not dreaming when I am in the waking world. So the risk associated with walking up to a random DC and doing something that would put me in jail is not there in a LD. Therefore I should not fear the consequences and go ahead and do my thing. Oops, I just noticed your gender, hope the above is not offensive to you, If so I apologize.

I once again say: go for it! Get your lucid rocks off. As you noted yourself, you aren't going to maul some random woman IWL, just as we would have heard of it if lucid dreamers were jumping out of windows because they thought they were dreaming and wanted to fly. Trust your lucidity!

Damn, did I accidentally set my gender to "easily offended" again? Sorry!

Nose Pinch RC! This is the most fool proof RC. Levitating can fail if you have doubts. Looking at your hand can fail because you are very familiar with your hands in the real world. The nose pinch reality check works 98%+ of the time (unless you have a very stuffy nose in reality).

The funny thing is, I've never used this RC. But I plan on making it a habit.
      Total LDs (some very brief) = 2004: 4 * 2005: 18 * 2006: 16 * 2007: 2 * 2008: 0 * 2009: 0 * 2010: 1 * 2011: 12 * 2012: 3 * 2013: 1 * 2014: 6 * 2015: 1 * 2016: 0 * 2017: 18 * 2018: 3 * 2019: 0 (so far)

Yea Tygar, you are correct on the nose pinch from what i have been hearing. I have been actually including it in my daily MILD triggers and plan on using it. Should be easy for me since i use a CPAP mask. Just me touching my nose should be enough.
