This is a great idea and it reminds me that I should practice better visualization. I like the idea of just basic visualization like looking at a scene then closing your eyes and remembering details, but I think this takes it a step further by adding motion into the mix and having you update your visualization based on where you are. Also I agree about it enhancing other senses which is a great bonus too, taking out your visual sense will make you pay more attention to other details like touch, sound and smell. Sometimes it's easy to just get distracted by what we see and lose focus on everything else.
The only downfall I can see to this is that there might not be many locations where you could reasonably practice this, it might look pretty odd to other people if you're walking around with your eyes closed Though I guess in those instances just regular motionless visualization would suffice. Also maybe bumping into stuff and knocking things over could be a problem until you're really sure about your location haha.
