Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
Sometimes I do something similar to this if there is an event that occurs during the day that would have been an adequate dream sign but I didn't pick up on it at the time. I'll visualize the encounter again but then after it happens I ask myself if I'm dreaming instead of doing whatever else I had done. Obviously it probably isn't as effective as if I had done it right then but I figure it's better than nothing and will help me get faster at picking up on them. I assume as long as you're practicing picking up on dream signs and visualizing well enough it doesn't matter if you use recent dreams or old ones, or even waking memories. But I'm not experienced enough to say for sure, just seems plausible to me |

I have asked myself this question. I assumed it was something to do with the brain still consolidating the dream events when you wake which makes for a good time to add a visualisation? |

My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.
