      isomnia in ssild

According to the 2.0 tutorial, ssild is supposed to help with isomnia, But its not the case. I tried this mirning at 6 abd here I am still awake. Heres what I Did. I woke up, noticed the sun rising, then Did about 4/5 quick cycles. Then Did 3/4 slow ones. At the beggining of the fast ones, it was hard to stay awake. Then after the first slow cycle,I went from drowsy to Wide awake with restless legs to doping barrel trolls in bed.
After doing the cycles falling asleep is extreemly difficult. I want this to work because when I do fall asleep it Does generate lds and looks very promising.

Before I discovered ssld, I Did something similar that granted me lds 2 nights in a row. When I woke up, I would stare into the dark behind the eyes for a minute or two until I felt like I was about to fall asleep, then I fell asleep. It even gave a similar fa.

Anyways can someone help me with my ssild Insomnia

      Hi,

It might be just that original SSILD is too mind engaging for you
Or maybe your putting too much effort/focus on cycles when doing them

      I suggest you to experiment,
Lucid Dreaming is quite personal thingy
For each person different things work
One might be able to lucid dreaming at will by simply repeating mantra five times ''I'il be lucid dreaming tonight'' and then going to sleep yet another one might become master of it thanks to performing reality check every five minutes
      Those were DILDs
And there are aswell there WILDs which are sligtly more personal stuff than already personal DILDs
If you want to master WILD Techniques then you need to experiment (SSILD is WILD Technique afterall?)
If doing five cycles keeps you awake try to cut it down to three cycles
Even after cutting it all to one cycle stuff doesn't works and can't fall asleep? Maybe the problem is amount of focus i put onto the technique? I've returned back to five cycles and decided to keep way less focus on SSILD than usual, it worked. I've made detailed notes and i'm ready for next practices

      That kind of stuff.
Make notes of every semi-successful / successful attempts, so you can analyse what works and what not (The more detailed the better)
      And experiment when it's appropriate

      Goodluck

For one thing, do not try to "focus" your eyes in the visual phase, just gently transfer awareness to the visual. For those who can take a long time to fall asleep again, or who generally wake up very quickly, in any night-time technique you need to monitor your drowsiness, and if you find your drowsiness is dropping below a level where you can fall asleep reasonably quickly, just stop whatever you're doing and aim directly for sleep (empty your mind, relax your body, and float off....)

I've had this problem as well at times. Just this last night, I spent about an hour before I fell asleep after finishing the cycles. For what you said, it probably was a matter of focusing too much. However, the first time I tried ssild I fell asleep right away and had a quite long lucid. It's all about finding the right balance.

When you say insomnia about how long long before falling asleep are we talking?
Also since SSILD is meant to sometimes induce dreams like a WILD do you lie still after going through the cycles or is that not a necessary thing?

Isomnia is around two hours. Occassionally you start to drift of, but not enough to actually sleep. However, whenever i had extreeme insombia due ti this it has always guarenteed an ld, then i all if a sudden felt sleepy. Also ssild is NOT a wild. Its more of a Dild on steroids. You can make it a wild by using deild when you wake up.
