Hey SSILD is relatively new I think, but a lot of people claim it to be really successful. I'm currently testing it myself.
SSILD basically can be summed up as:
You wake 4-5 hours after going to bed, then you do a few (5-7) short cycles (only a few seconds long) and then 3-4 long cycles (minimum of 30 seconds).
The cycles go like this (you're not supposed to do them simultaneously btw):
1) Sight: Become aware of your eyesight (make sure your eyelids are closed), but don't focus them on anything or pay attention to any shapes/patterns.
2) Hearing: Become aware of you hearing, listen to the internal sounds, the sound of your breathing, you heart beating, the creaking of muscles etc. External sounds are okay too I think.
3)Touch: Become aware of they way your body feels, if you don't
It's 100% okay to not see, hear, or feel particularly anything during these cycles, the point is to just put awareness into these three senses. It seems to stimulate a higher chance of becoming lucid in your dream. And you must make sure you're quite comfortable, if you're getting an itch, then scratch it, otherwise you'll just get unfocused.
Here's a link to a resent SSILD thread that's testing it for a month if you want to pitch in: http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...ild-month.html
