What is SSILD? And am I on the right track?

I keep seeing it on here and I just want to know what it is. Is it kind of like DEILD? I had a lucid dream back in late July late in the morning and figured out it was DEILD. I know that because I woke up, stayed perfectly still, and after some seconds of hearing fast paced pulsed ringing noises, I went into a new one. Is SSILD like this or is it different?

Also, I'm starting to work on LDs again since my summer vacation finished. With school, I haven't been focusing much but I will try to starting this weekend. From that dream I had in late July up until early September, I had about 3 or 4 LDs and most of them came fairly easy to me. One night, I did a WBTB along with an MILD and without putting that much effort into it, I had an LD. So is this a good sign that I'll be good at lucid dreaming?

Sounds promising. You're having LDs, which is always a good sign.

SSILD is a WILD technique, though some will disagree with or qualify that statement. You can Google SSILD and Dreamviews and locate original thread. Someone more helpful than me might post the link as well.

      Good luck

Hey SSILD is relatively new I think, but a lot of people claim it to be really successful. I'm currently testing it myself.
SSILD basically can be summed up as:
You wake 4-5 hours after going to bed, then you do a few (5-7) short cycles (only a few seconds long) and then 3-4 long cycles (minimum of 30 seconds).
The cycles go like this (you're not supposed to do them simultaneously btw):
      1) Sight: Become aware of your eyesight (make sure your eyelids are closed), but don't focus them on anything or pay attention to any shapes/patterns.
      2) Hearing: Become aware of you hearing, listen to the internal sounds, the sound of your breathing, you heart beating, the creaking of muscles etc. External sounds are okay too I think.
3)Touch: Become aware of they way your body feels, if you don't

It's 100% okay to not see, hear, or feel particularly anything during these cycles, the point is to just put awareness into these three senses. It seems to stimulate a higher chance of becoming lucid in your dream. And you must make sure you're quite comfortable, if you're getting an itch, then scratch it, otherwise you'll just get unfocused.

Here's a link to a resent SSILD thread that's testing it for a month if you want to pitch in: http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...ild-month.html

And here's a link to the original author of the technique if you want to learn how to do it properly: 宇宙の铁: Senses Initiated Lucid Dream (SSILD) Official Tutorial
