I dreamed about trying to sleep (Facepalm)

I'm a big newbie in Lucid Dreaming, didn't know it existed 5 or 6 days ago, and today I tried my first WBTB.
I always have to wake up at 6:00 AM, so I went to bed 22:00 and woke up 4:35 (a bit late, I know). After 30 minutes doing some math, reading about lucid dream and wannabe meditating, I went to bed 5:05.
It was very hard to sleep, and I suddenly changed my focus from Lucid Dreaming to actually sleeping. So, I (think) I had a false awakening, because I remember getting up with the lights turned on without me touching the switch, so I did an RC (pinch nose) but I don't remember if it worked or not (wtf haha).

I remember dreaming that I was playing PES and using Facebook in an imaginary computer beside my bed, but I HAD to sleep so that I could Lucid Dream, so I "quit" the dream and turned to the other side in the bed (the one without the computer) without realizing that all of that was a dream. Soon, my 6:00 everyday alarm woke me up and after some time I remembered that.

Try your WBTB MILD technique again to induce another false awakening. You can do it!

Probably not the best idea to start doing WBTB when you haven't even had any lucid dreams, I'd suggest DILDS or MILDS before going onto more advance stuff.

Don't worry tho false awakenings are very normal, the best way to combat that is doing a reality check every time you wake up. For me I have an A4 Paper stuck to the ceiling
that says REALITY CHECK that way if I wake up in a false awakening I'll most likely do a reality check and have a lucid dream.

Lol. I'm sure someone's gunna come and talk about the differences between DILDS, MILDS and others. I don't feel like doing it myself
I like the reality check paper to the wall though, I might wanna try it.

Eh, I can't be bothered explaining on which is which, besides there's big archives on the internet dedicated to each technique and how to do it.

Also that was an idea I came up with (unless someone else has and I haven't heard of it)

      LOL.

XD its OK Eww555 it happens to the best of us. Are you keeping a dream journal? That would be a funny one to look back on when you are a pro lucid dreamer

But yea try dream journaling for sure. It helps with remembering what your dreams are like so you will recognize when you are dreaming

Happens to me all the time. When I do WBTB I usually like to, every few minutes or so imagine being in a dream I want to have and if I happen to actually be in R.E.M., my imagination will get vivid, and it will be relatively easy to imagine and mantain the image of a dream and eventually you will fall into that scene, if I'm fully awake though it will take a lot of will power to maintain it.

Why? WBTB is advanced? If you have enough motivation and time you can do some "serious" combinations from the first day. (example: DJ+RC+Some technique and/or self awarenes+WBTB). Maybe it is even important to say for a newbie: Make WBTB !

How about this one I had tonight:
I tried WILD when I already was dreaming, it worked and I became lucid in that new scene. But after 20 seconds someone 'woke' me up from that 'WILD' and I was non-lucid again in the same dream scene where I tried the WILD. My dream characters probably don't like me .

I would say about 80% of my lucid dreams start with me laying in my bed and getting up. So I've gotten to the point where I automatically do a RC as soon as I wake up (I always look down at my hands and check out my fingers)

And sometimes I go to sleep in a dream not realizing I'm already asleep and it causes me to wake up in the real world. So I do a RC before going to bed, too.

It's my brain's favorite way to attempt to troll me. Just get yourself doing those RCs and you'll be fine.

Sorry, but the first part of your post is bad advice, my first self induced LD was a WBTB WILD, and while the transition from lying in your bed to being in a LD can be intense, it can also be a lot more intuitive than realizing you are in a dream through DILD/mantras etc.

However having a piece of paper above your bed to remind you to do a reality check is a great idea, I will probably try this myself.
