This was a lucid dream because as you said, you knew it was a dream.

Lucidity is awareness, and there are various types of awareness, and I do believe there are varying levels of lucidity. There is awareness of our physical bodies, which we don't want in dreams, and awareness of our dream bodies, awareness of whether we are dreaming or not.

I notice my lucidity fades in and out in dreams.

I think a scale would be helpful to beginners. Creating one though presents some challenges. There is a % of how much one is aware / lucid in the dream but there is also the % clarity to take into account, for example, I have had several 'obe's where i have got up from my bed absolutely knowing im lucid and with full control but the dream was unstable, dark and 'patchy'.

My lucidity was very high but the clarity was very low so im unsure how i would mark this on a scale. A lot of variables need to be taken into consideration from the level of awareness / clarity / stability / control / length etc

Most of the scales ive seen are 'primitive' and only take 1 aspect into account. Ill see what I can invent over the next week or so
