      Sleep Paralysis induction problems

Hi. I have just registered here. I'm sorry if I opened topic in the wrong place, but after reading some rules I think I'm opening it in the right place.
Okay. What my problem is, I've been trying to induce sleep paralysis, but I am having problems. I've seen almost every technique that I found after googling.
I am doing everything right. I can keep myself from moving, swallowing etc. I'm pretty relaxed and comfortable. But the thing is, I keep falling asleep. I've tried counting technique, and I've tried repeating mantra over and over, but I still fall asleep.

Any technique you know that might work for me? What should I do so I don't fall asleep and reach sleep paralysis state?
      Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you won't even experience sleep paralysis when WILDing, it's not a necessary step to a successful WILD.

Perhaps the actual problem could be 'trying to induce sleep paralysis'? If you have certain expectations built up about what should happen, you'll set yourself up to fail when they don't.

When it comes to falling asleep too quickly, I would suggest either extending the time of your WBTB or focus on DEILD, which is pretty much a shortened WILD. It sounds counter intuitive to work on DEILD if you are falling asleep too quickly, but I had the same experience as you in that when WILDing I would fall asleep (without lucidity).

With DEILD however, I can wake up with a strong enough awareness to stop me from falling unconscious while my body is already on the brink of falling asleep. This way I can shortcut the long relaxation part of a WILD (which is when my awareness tends to drift off and I would inevitably fall asleep) and instead go straight to the transition moment which is actually when you need the most awareness!!

      I hope this helps

To amplify ImpossibleMinds' statement above, there is no reason, at all, to "reach" a sleep paralysis state.

The myth of reaching SP has developed a very high profile on the internet, probably because it just sounds so exciting. In fact, actual SP only occurs when you are waking up, and very rarely at that. What people have come to call sleep paralysis seem to be wither the onset of REM Atonia or just deep relaxation, both of which you can exit easily, so there is no paralysis. In the end, there is no need to concern yourself with reaching anything other than the dream when WILDing; looking for anything else is merely a distraction.

From what you wrote, it also sounds like the techniques you googled are a bit lacking. I suggest you take a look at the tutorials here at DV, and humbly suggest you read through my own DVA WILD class; I think you might find some missing pieces to your LD'ing puzzle there.

Also, you might take a look at these threads on SP that might help you better understand it, and its very limited value in LD'ing:

"Very limited value." Now there's tact for you.

Personally I see >>no value<< in SP - which is a dysphoric experience and not a state I would attempt to cultivate. It's kind of an "incidental" or peripheral subject that gets brought up from time to time on this forum. Once educated on sleep paralysis I believe you will come to realize the topic has little relevance to legitimate discussions on lucid dreaming.
