      Back when i started lucid dreaming in 2011, i purely only RC'd all the time with literally nothing else other than motivation. In around a year or so i recall collecting around 70 LDs. At some point i burned out and stopped caring about RC's and so my ability dropped so low i rarely have any LDs these days.

      Fortunately though, i have recognized that change and have been following my old methods (Just RC) since yesterday, and today i had a semi-nightmare and was able to know that it's a dream. An important thing i may have noticed is that you need to be consistent for this to succeed. Though ironic for me to be giving others advice that i have trouble following, i'll try hard to do this properly.

      Thanks! Do you think itd be possible to get more than 70 lucids a year thought with this technique? I'm aiming to get lucid several times a week and then eventually work up to getting lucid every night from it. I certainly think its possible but just want other peoples opinions. I don't feel like working on self awareness or ada or gravity rc or anything like that. I just want to stick with plain old RCS and put all my time into that. Because I believe lding should be simple. adding in all those awareness practices just makes it confusing in my opinion and has turned me off to lucid dreaming tons of times. Reality checks on the other hand are so simple but seem as though they can be very effective in being the only technique someone uses to get consistent lucids.

      One thing i also did back in the day was that i would occasionally do a WBTB from time to time.

      My LD frequency was about a few LDs every week at average, i got a really nice amount of LDs for a beginner. Keep in mind that i was just starting and i knew nothing more than just RC'ing. I eventually got worried that RC'ing wouldn't get me an LD every night which accelerated my burnout from the practice.

      Honestly i think any method can give you daily LDs if you practice it for long enough, and i've read this from an experienced LDer on the forums at some point as well. Anyone would love to LD daily but even a few LDs a week is pretty nice compared to none. I find it funny how i destroyed my own LD rate because i thought my practice wasn't working good enough. A few days ago i almost quit lucid dreaming because of the absence of LDs but only after i got it off my mind did i realize how much stress i was putting on myself just practicing it alone. It all lead to me following a relaxed RC-only approach, the same one i succeded with. One would argue that DJing is really important too, which i agree with, but i think i'll only start seriously DJing after i succeed at LDing a bit more frequently. I still have a good memory for dreams so i'm not really self-destructing with that said.

      All in all, these are my thoughts based on what i experienced, and i really hope i can return to how good i had it back then. If you feel like this approach is better then try it out, since LDing is very personal it differs from person to another how they would succeed.

      I've heard that as well. A person can get daily lucids from damn near any technique if they practice it enough. Therefore starting today I am saying good bye to any other methods for getting dilds such as self awareness and stuff and dedicating all of my time to doing lots of reality checks throughout the day, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, and dream journaling every day.

      What are your favorite reality checks? I don't want to feel like I need to use them all. I just want to find the main ones that can be used in public without the need for external devices like watches or text to read.

      So far I've got nose pinch, finger through palm, and looking at hands to see if they look weird/counting fingers.

      Those are the only ones I know of that are extremely reliable and can be practiced in public without the need for external factors. Do you have any others?

      I'm wondering because if I were to teach lucid dreaming to someone using this reality check technique, I want them to be able to have success with these reality checks as well.

      I myself have almost always gotten lucid with the nose pinch RC, i later used the finger count RC too. There was one time that i created my own RC which is to try to clench your fist and generate fire from that, but it sounded unreliable so i stopped using it.

      Those are the exact RCs I'm using now. I typically look at my hands, stretch the skin on the back of my hand to check elasticity and do a finger through the palm. So far, I've only had 3 DILDs and two were from looking at my hands and one was from stretching my skin and realizing how blobby and deformed it was. I think I'll try the nose plug only for a little while and see if that works for me, I still do RCs every day but am seeing no progress - I wonder if I'm just doing motions at this point and not truly mentally checking. Maybe changing it up will make it more of a conscious action.
