Is getting up a couple hours after you go to bed NECESSARY for wild?

Or is it possible (I don't mean possible in the "it's possible, but the probability is 0.000001%" way) to have a WILD right when you first go to bed?

Yes, it's possible to do it when you go to bed, if you want to. But you're more likely to do it after doing WBTB, + it'll be faster with a WBTB.

It's completely possible, I have a friend who was able to wild during an MSN conversation, but you'll have to practice in the morning if you want to get that good.

WBTB isn't necessary but it helps. WBTB is more of an enhancer of techniques.

Listen to the people, they know what they're talking about. Incidentally which of you (people who posted before me) can WILD at will?

WILD in 99% of the cases works best and results in longer more vivid dreams after some sleep. On first going to sleep, your mind is heading pretty quicly for delta sleep.

I'd like to hear some feedback from those that can WILD at the first of the night, how vivid and how long?

I can WILD at the start of the night about 10% of the time (or 3 times per month). They are VERY vivid, but duration (at least for me) is not long before deep sleep takes me. It is my hope that this is not something that cannot be lengthened with practice. The upside is this usually has a snowballing effect where I will have many lucids in one night.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of being able to do this is that concentration becomes easier. If I wake up at all during the night I am pretty much guaranteed a successful WILD. In fact, I don't think I could possibly fall asleep after waking without being lucid at least for a few minutes.

I spent a lot of time focusing on AP when I was younger with no success because I knew nothing of LDs. About 6 months ago after stumbling on the WILD technique it was much easier than the concept of "leaving the body" so I was able to pull it off. Hopefully with practice I will be able to do it at will.

I think everyone should attempt to WILD at the start of the night, it is great practice, take my word for it, especially if you hate getting up early like me.

ive always wanted to try WILD before WBTB, but I never have. my mind always tells me "this aint gonna work. DV said so!"

but, im still quite the insomniac and waking up five hours later doesnt work. . . .

It's not necessary but it is easier for most people to use WBTB for obvious reasons.

I've only been able to WBTB a few times (mainly because my alarm won't wake me up) But still have plenty of WILD's, I only count the good, lasting ones in my sig.
