Thread: My nose and reading RC's both failed.

Two nights ago, I dreampt that my father was driving me to the beach. I looked out the passenger window to see that the sand had a line separating the dark sand from the light sand. Confused, I held my nose shut for a moment. After not breathing, I assumed I wasn't dreaming.

Last night, I was walking past a movie theather and read a notice on the window and could clearly read the paper that said "Closed" on it.

Am I doing this wrong? The only time I have ever had a lucid in my life was due to a dream cue. For instance

My first lucid: I was in my parents store walking down the stairs and saw my father walk up the other set. I kept walking down the aisle and heard footsteps in the other. I thought "This is definately not my Dad, no way." My dad walks in from around the corner and at that point I knew I was dreaming"

My second: This morning I WBTB around 5 to 5:30-ish, I find myself in my Bathroom shower with all of my clothes on. Yea that isn't an obvious cue. I jump up and travel through the ceiling and fly out.

Maybe I'm not thorough enough in my reality checks. What does everyone else do. Better question. What is your personal RC that you favor most.

O and another thing, I recieved a call on my cellphone once... IN MY DREAM!! this has to be the most aggravating thing ever. Although I have to say I'm haveing more freqent LD's now that I spend much of my free time researching them.

I often find that reading something in a dream doesn't work too well, so my personal favorite is sticking my hand through a solid object. You'd think it would be one of the harder ones to do, but it seems to be quite easy in your dream. As soon as your hand goes through, there certainly is no doubt you're dreaming.

Also, it has to be one of the weirdest feelings around, you can feel the object sliding through the inside of your body like a hard line, very cool.

Try pushing your finger through your hand.

Also, re-read the sign. It's quite likely that the text has changed.

One more sure-fire technique is to back track. What were you doing before you got in the car? If you can't answer, or the answer doesn't make sense, you know you're dreaming.

Read the text, look away, imagine that the text changes into "Salamy" or something else. Read it again.

well I've been experimenting with the finger through hand trick, but it hasn't been used in my dreams yet. The text idea sounds good. I'm actually confused as to what I'm going to use next. However, through past memories of my dreams as a kid, I've got an idea as to my own. I once had a dream that I went swimming and I went to hold my nose as I went underwater. I realized after a second or so, I couldn't hold for more than a second or two. I started breathing and to my surprise, I could breathe underwater. Now, everytime I do a RC I'm gonna hold it for five seconds. If I can't do it then I'm dreaming. Wadya think?
