      Swallowing During Wild

So, i had my first 'propper' WILD attempt last night, and it went pretty well. Only problem i had, was i couldn't stop myself from swallowing every few minutes. So if it necessary to not swallow to WILD, or does it just make it easier? Any suggestions? Here's my Dream Journal entry, if your interested:It's a bit incoherent being at 3 in the morning, so my appologies.

Woke up at 3:00, got up, put on a jumper, lounged around in my Bedroom for 5 minutes untill i felt awake. Lay down on back completley still. Small twitches after about 5 minutes. Arms and legs starting to feel heavy. Tingling beginning underneath my skin. Intense tingling/switching/hypnotic imagery. White dots swirling around my head, feeling of spinning. Couldn't stop from swallowing and the feeling slowly dies down. Felt very shaky, trembling slightly. Trying again, limbs began tgo feel heavy, slight tingling, the door creaks open and everything stops. Intense fear of someone else being in the room, unable to concentrate. Checked clock, 15 minutes passed. Rolled over and went back to sleep.

As much as I would like to say the opposite, swallowing indeed does cause most WILD attempts to fail, or at least stave them off temporarily. I've had this experience myself.

The best remedy I can suggest is taking a good drink of water before attempting (not too much—you don't want to have to pee) to clear your throat so you won't have the need to swallow extra phlegm or saliva during your attempt. When your body is testing to see if you are unconscious, the conscious effort of swallowing signifies to it that you are indeed still awake.
      Stay lucid, stay WILD!

Great reply now i see, your sub-conscious checks to see if your awake by seeing if you swallow!!

I have failed many Wilds due to unknown reasons but now i think back i remember swallowing due to dry mouth alot so that was probably the reason... Thx

My way of beating the above is dont breathe in through your mouth just breathe out of it and in through the nose that way it takes double the amount of time for it to go dry, works for me! :-)

      thx

I have the same problem. Funny, I can last over forty minutes completely still while listening to a hypnosis MP3, but not while trying to WILD.

It's possible to stay completely still... We just need to not focus on the distraction. It's hard though, much like trying to forget about a mosquito bite.

Best thing you can do is put a larger pillow under your head, then it kind of lessons the amount of saliva, and it's easier to swollow, try not to worry about it however find something to focus on, I highly suggest you just day dream about things well observing it passivly.

i can WILD even if i swallow, and i dont need to stay completely still either. I look at it like this: if you have a minor discomfort that you can easily ignore, then go ahead and ignore it. If you have a discomfort that is bugging you SO badly that you are going to be stuck thinking about forever, then go ahead and get rid of the discomfort. Ive found that if you are stuck thinking about how uncomfortable you are, it hinders your WILD even more than just getting it over with and moving.
