      WILD Problems

I've been practicing WILD techniques for about a week and a half now and have managed to induce SP on each recent attempt. I don't usually get any HI when my eyes are closed so I count my breaths.

The second last attempt took almost exactly 40 minutes and ended up with me "inside my own head" in darkness, still counting. My body completely numb and almost a "swollen" feeling. I've experienced dizziness and sinking feelings on other occasions but I think I may have lost my concentration on this attempt. It was almost like I had awoken (or became aware/conscious), but as my eyes were closed and my body paralised, it was just complete darkness.

Over the next 5 minutes or so, I became more and more aware that I was lying in my bed. I started hearing cars outside and feeling started to come back to my fingers. I had tried to visualise a dreamscene but I don't really think HI or visualisation will work for me, based on my recent experiences. Because of this, I decided to change which reality check I would do. There's no point looking at my clock while in bed, if I can't visualise one while WILDing. So I planned to hold my nose as a check last night. Unfortunately, I was quite tired and actually fell asleep.

I will try again tonight of course, but what are people's opinions on this? I've noticed a few people seem to hit this wall, stuck in darkness and unable to slip into a dream. I read some more tutorials and planned to try imagining myself in my bed, which in theory should be easier than imagining a made-up dreamscene. I also plan to try rolling out of bed slowly afterwards and slowly opening my eyes. But any time I've got to this point I'm usually pretty convinced that I'm awake or have failed. This is probably my downfall. I suppose I shouldn't assume until I've RC'd.

      Ideas?

      Thanks for reading

I have the same problem. Only if I try too hard, I can't get back to sleep easily.

I think you've got to just keep on truckin'. Wait even longer. You are completely aware, so it's no surprise that your mind is thinking "Ah. You're awake still? Better not start dreaming now." We may have to wait so long that our minds say "Awake or not, screw you. I need my REM," and flips on a dream. Once that happens, I bet our minds will then say "Oh!! That's what you wanted all along? I get it!" and it'll become a lot easier.

Ignore that. I just wish it were like that. No matter what, it takes loads of patience for those that aren't naturals.

I try to imagine scenes, too. It never works for me. I'm hoping if I don't think about anything for too long, my mind will create a dream for me.

I have the same exact problem. Stuck in SP and then don't know where to go from there. It's really annoying. However, after a month of this, today I FINALLY was able to start hallucinating. All of the sudden I felt like I fell through my bed, it was scary but I was SO AMAZED!! That when i reallized what I did, I woke up all the way. Ill try again tonight!!!

Well it's 3:30am, a little earlier than my alarm was set for. Not entirely sure why I got up at this time. Can't remember whatever dream I may have had unfortunately, but I'm just about to attempt WILD again with a few pointers from around the forum.

      Tonight it's going to work!

Well I'm awake again... I was very close and even started to see some flashing imagery. Nothing specific, just colours. I felt my body was numb enough for me to do a reality check but I actually did move my real arm. Then the paralysis faded. I rolled over but was awake. Gonna try again just now. Maybe I left it too long... or not long enough? It always seems to take exactly 40 minutes to get to this stage.
