How long before your first Lucid Dream?

As the title suggests the poll is about how long it took you (after you started putting effort into Lucid Dreaming, not having them by accident) to have your first Lucid Dream.

I thought you've had two, JD. Yes, they were VERY short - but long enough for you to know it's real!

Damn lucky people (apart from JD?) I've been trying a month and not a proper one yet.

I had one about 5-6 days ago. But it was only my second LD ever and it lasted only a few minutes.

Yea, I had a couple LDs after two weeks, but they weren't vivid and i barely remembered them... Maybe you should change the poll to how long before you had a quality lucid dream.

Less than 2 weeks, but I must confess that I was quite obsessed with lucid dreaming at the start and spent at least 3-4 hours every night reading and thinking about it plus doing RC's and general 'observing reality' very intense. My first LD was very short (1min) but also very vivid and really intense (felt like 'more real than reality', comparable to using xtc)
This was when I was still on my working holiday in France, so I had loads of free and stressless time. Now I only have 1 hour max per day to read and think about it

My personal experience is that it works better to be fully focused for a few days, than to just do a little every day.

I put myself down for 1 year, but really it was more like 1 1/2 years.

The effort I put forth though was sometimes intense, and then sometimes practically nonexistent. I'm sure that if I had worked at it consistently during that time, I could have had my first LD much sooner.

In any case, I'm glad that I didn't give up then, and I'm glad to be sticking with it now.

I look forward with bated breath to the day, years from now, when I will be able to have long, vivid LDs at will.

Ironically, I had two lucid dreams a few days before joining. I had known what lucid dreams were from Psychology, but those two dreams were so cool that I decided to learn more about them, including techniques, and joined this site. I had my first intentional lucid 14 days later.

      Two years. Still nothing.
But I guess fear, laziness and a number of other frustrating inner demons doesn't count as effort.

I think I had my first LD like a week and a half - 2 weeks after I learned about LDing... I've gotten lucid maybe 4 times since then, and its been around a month since my first, I think.

Unfortunately, all of those 4 have been just realizing I'm dreaming then trying to stop my dream from disappearing... but they've all been really short except my first, which was pretty short but I got to take giant jumps and stuff. 'twas fun.

About a month, though the actual figure might be closer to two months. I don't remember. But I do remember it was a hell of a rush when it DID happen.

Technically my first lucid dream came after more then a month but less then a year, probably after 3 months. Oh but it was sweet and scary.

I feel well slow lol, it took me like 2-3 years at least! I probably didn't try that hard though to get one. Then it just happened and I average about 1 a week now, still without really trying.

I had my first LD exactly one month after I started keeping a dream journal, which was March of this year. Then I didn't have one for another month, and stopped keeping the journal.

For a few months I made no effort to recall my dreams, then I had a spontaneous lucid dream 13 days ago. Since that time, I've re-dedicated myself and have had 5 lucid dreams in 13 days.

Lucky me, the night after I started looking at this site, I had my first Lucid Dream. THat was like, 5 months ago and I've only had one since, and it lasted about 10 seconds before I forgot I was dreaming again and lost lucidity.
