DILD can be combined with WILD, which, as you mentioned, involves waking up about six hours after the onset of sleep. You don't have to stay up for an hour. I find fifteen minutes sufficient (half of which are spent in bed!). You can tailor it to suit your needs.

There is no sure fire way to lucidity for everyone. Everyone must forge their own path to success! It will take much trial and error, and, if you are like me, some sleepless nights! Good luck!
