Finally Hit SP! Now I know What I Was Doing Wrong

For quite a while I have been practicing WILD with no avail. I have been doing what the forums suggested, but it hasn't worked for me. Then last night, without actually trying to WILD, I managed to finally reach SP consciously

I was lying in bed (no this wasn't a wbtb) just letting my mind wander so I could sleep. After about 20 minutes (I checked the clock after this experience) I noticed something I don't usually notice. My mind was acting out a scenario. It felt like a dream state without images. It was like a strong memory I wasn't controlling. I don't know what made me notice this, but I didn't want to completely wake up, so I just noted that this was odd and let my mind continue. My mind kept rambling about something I have no more memory of and I was slightly wondering if this was a dream, then all of the sudden my body starts shaking and there is this loud noise in my ear! It fetl like I was taking off in a rocket ship. I wake up and there is this massive gorilla jumping on my bed!

Haha, joking about the last part. Anyway, so I realize that this is SP but I forgot what I was planning on dreaming about and I thought i was going to think of something scary and then i WAS thinking about something scary so I woke myself up. Also, My sheets were folded over to tight and i was getting pretty hot. I feel kinda stupid now, but I'm so psyched that I reached this point. All my previous attempts I've been counting, listening to breaths, chanting, but I never let my mind wander and head towards sleep. I just had to somehow realize my thoughts were dreamlike. I wonder if this has anything to do with how hot my room was? Anyway, I hoped this has helped someone in their pursuit. Don't get discouraged cause I thought it was impossible for me to get this far.

Im in EXACTLY the same position as you are.

I get the really loud 'wind' noise aswell. And the shaking is soo much fun now.

Keep me updated on your progress, and we can help eachother out if you want.

      Took me by surprise too.

The nex 2 attemps i was expecting it, but of course, i got different sensations.

I felt like i was sinking at a million mph. Then my heart was racing, but my breathing was normal. My blood also felt hot.

It was fun. You have to learn to enjoy it an not be scared, i find it funny when my mind comes up of news ways to try and scare me and i laugh at its pathetic attempts

I don't get it. What exactly did you do to cause SP?

      I find this rather strange.

SP is a natural condition which occurs upon the onset of REM sleep. It takes approximately 90 minutes to reach it for the first time during a normal sleep cycle. Are you sure you weren't experiencing an extreme numbing sensation? When one is in sleep paralysis you cannot control anything. In fact, for many first timers, it can be a frightening experience (even if you expect it) because the individual cannot really control his breathing and thus it gives a suffocating sensation (even though there is nothing to worry about).

I somehow noticed my mind was thinking strange thoughts moments before I would normally hit SP. I think you are supposed to remain conscious the whole time, but I kinda jumped in at the last moment.

Who's to say my sleep cycle is normal? Haha, I dunno how its supposed to happen. All I know is all of the sudden my body started vibrating alot and this loud noise was in my ear. I don't know if I could move because I wasn't trying to.

My mind often starts to act out scenarios like that (but sometimes I have a little control over some of it) when I am trying to normally go to sleep, but it just makes it take forever to fall asleep. This has never made me fall into SP while still aware though. That's cool that it worked for you!

I started with image streaming technique recently and it is starting to help me with visualisation. And it helped me to reach SP state too. And it happened, when i travelled by train. And had some time for nap while travelling. I focused myself on describing the scene {as suggested by image streaming technique} and fully forgot about my body. then i suddenly realise, i cannot move my body. As if i was imprisonned in my body. That was cool. Sleep paralysis came to me. I even didnt have to do anything. just let my mind wander.

      Nice experience.

It was weird for me. Sunday morning, I woke up early to do a wbtb and it was the first time in a looong while that i was able to visualize clearly. In my head, I put myself in a beach scene and I was jumping into the water, trying to catch fishes, while thinking this is what I'm going to do in my dream. Eventually i was visualizing so strongly that I completely forgot about my body but after a few minutes, I completely lost the image in my mind and I saw an old man's face who asked, "Will you please help my daughter?". The moment he said that, it felt like my head was grabbed and pulled over the side of my bed and when it felt like my entire body fell off, I saw an image of a girl but was shocked back awake from the experience. I checked to see if I was in a dream but I wasnt and when I tried starting over again, I couldnt visualize anything at all.

Does this sound like I was entering SP? I'm not sure because as soon as I became aware something unnatural was happening, I was able to move my body.

If it was the beginning, I've gotta say that it is an awesome experience and I was looking forward to entering that dream. The girl that popped into my head was so cute and I wish I could have dream-rescued her from whatever the old man was talking about.

i think i have come close to that random image thing. i was thinking about things as i was falling asleep, and then all of the sudden i noticed i caught myself thinking about something else totally different and very random. i coulndt control this, thus waking up from a very close-to sleep state. dont kknow if this is close to wild but whatervs

I think i hit SP again. I was lying in bed for a while, then I gained conscious and realized how random my thoughts were and that they were kinda reenacting a scenario. Then I had this thought "time for bed" and i knew i was about to sleep and i heard this really loud clap. It got my heartrate going and I fully woke up. I'm pretty sure this is the begining of SP. Hopefully I will keep experiencing this enough that it won't keep making me nervous
