Why do we often ask how, and not why?

I recently came to realisation, that lucid dreaming is directly dependent on motivation. But also found myself in search for techniques and methods. But actually:

Isnt it more important to ask why and not how?

np. It has too much information with to few words.

It was just a reminder not to forget to remember why we actually started learning lucid dreaming.

Oh that's easy. I don't think it's something we forget. I think we're reminded of it every time we practice it.

Everyone has their own reasons for why. It's just an amazing experience for the most part. They already know why. It's like trying to acheive a goal and constantly asking why you're trying to acheive it. It might be encouraging, but how is the actual method of coming to the why.

Thanx for response. But i wouldnt be so sure about it. What if you dont have success? What if you always try, but you feel you are not making progress, becouse you actually dont want it? What then? Sometimes it happens, that pure motivation comes into background and the essence of progress is lost that way.
I think, thats the time to ask why. And even better why not ... .

Actually. What is the method of comming to the why? ... Pretty interesting sentence. And it fully expresses the state i wanted to talk about. What makes us actually want methods, for things, that should be as simple as motivation.

That is the purpose of this thread. Why do we actually want answers formulated in techniques and methods? /---

Why do we often ask how and not why....

And that would be also the clarification for you : Mas Terrant

Why do we want methods? Well, some people need some sort of systematic way, some steps, to go through to make things more clear. Some people do worse when techniques are introduced, some do better.

I see you're trying to be very philosophical, but I don't see how this warrants any sort of mysterious talk.

Yeah i am usually very philosophical. thats the way i think. I dont want to introduce any mysterious talk. Just wanted to show different view on task. Maybe not all people here are on techniques. Maybe some people would be interested about another view. Maybe some people have another view. Maybe we could just chat. Also your responses are what give this thread some sort of added value.

i lucid dream because the freedom you feel is better than anything I've ever experienced in my waking life. And that right there is enough motivation for me to keep pinching my nose, and glancing at my hands.
