u did a RC every 5 minutes? |
that's a good question. |
The same night. If doing so many RC within so short a time frame does not bother you then go for it. But then again there's the thing with RCs...do too many and the mind stops accepting it as an RC. Same thing with dreamsigns, see too many dreamsigns in waking life you won't remember it as a dreamsign in the dream. |
I find that if you make an RC simply a physical habit, and don't actually mentally reality check, then the RC tends to fail. Or you just blow it off and don't pay enough attention to it. When you do a reality check, you should stop everything that you are doing and find a way to prove to yourself that you are in reality, and in that way expose the fact that you are in a dream. |
As the others have said, it's not the reality check itself as much as the state of mind. You need to honestly question reality. Going through the motions will accomplish nothing, no matter how much you do it. |
Yeah I got into the habit of trying to put my finger through my palm whenever something strange happened... not into the habit of questioning whether or not it was reality. So for a while I had dreams where something strange caught my attention and I literally said to myself in the dream, "Whoa that's the kind of weird thing I'm supposed to be doing reality checks for so I can catch it next time I'm dreaming!" Then I'd half-ass the RC, not actually question the state, have the RC fail, and continue on in the dream |
if you really check reality every 5 minutes, it shouldnt be that long untill you have a DILD. however, if you just do what people say to do to 'reality check', it wont do anything. like shift said, if you're half-assing the checking of the reality, the checks wont do anything for you while dreaming. |
Just when we think its a simple reality check ( is it a dream or not ) our complex brain adds a new dimension to it. |
