How long did it take you?

I am working very diligently to acquire lucidity. My dream recall is now about 1-3 dreams per night. I was wondering how long did it take you to LD after you got decent recall? I am just curious to get an idea, I know everyone is different.

I had my first sometime during the middle of my first week of trying. It was a fairly short DILD, but the realism and the feeling bewildered me at the time. It still does.

EDIT: I dug up my old dream journal, and I actually had one my 9th day of trying.

I had one within the first few days of finding out about it.

Same here, I had my first (brief) LD on the very first night after finding out what it was.

lucid dream, for me about a week and a half. not pre-lucid, not "Oh I'm dreaming" and waking up immediately after from excitement. really lucid dream.

It took me about a week of trying after I learned what they were to have one. But I've had them all my life, just not very often at all. Maybe 3 a year.

Just thinking out loud, I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but, I sometimes wonder if some people are just not meant to LD. as an adult.

Like, potentially, its no longer a part of their life path, destiny or chart or something.

Every night as a kid, come hell or high water, I was going to LD or go "Out Of Body" without fail.

Had no idea what it was, but finally wrestled enough control to either block the experience or not remember it any longer.

As an adult I had a renewed interest in it once I discovered what it was.

Have had a paltry few extremely vivid experiences which took months to achieve, but in the last year or so...absolute brick wall.

      What say you all?

I actually had my first recalled lucid dream a few days before I start3ed actively trying. I had been keeping a dream journal to improve recall for a short time before finding this place, and learning about LDs, and the first couple were already written down.

Im lucky (my track record aside from that isn't too good though, only had a few lucids since joining)
Goals completed since joining: 10 -- Last goal completed: February 17, 2009
      Uncontrolled lucid dreams:23.5--controlled lucid dreams:24.5
      --WILDs:16.5--MILDs:1.5--DILDs:22--DEILDs:8--Quasilucids(do not count):3--
      --LTotMBasic:0--LTotMAdvanced:1--LTotY:0--

I would have to agree with that. For me they come somewhat easy but for my wife its definitely a rarity as she's only had about 4 in 6 months.

I have found that my lucid dreams are directly related to my motivation/desire to have one.

I had mine on the first day about even hearing about lucid dreaming. I didn't even start practicing dream recall yet.

I found that once I started to keep a dream journal my dream recall wasn't too bad. From that point it took me about a month to have my first LD.
