      Reality Check idea

I was thinking about reality checks when an idea occurred to me: Tattooing "Am I dreaming"(or whatever variation) somewhere on your body that is visible to you. Yes, a little extreme. I would suppose that lucid dreams would be very abundant in the first couple of weeks of the tattooing, which could be very helpful in learning the best ways for yourself of attaining lucidity. After that, the tattoo would merely be part of your identity and appear in your dreams as often as your limbs do; seeing this question on your body would most likely always bring up the question in your mind, leading to awareness.

I don't know if anyone would be willing to do this, but if so, you can rest assure that any doubts to whether it would work would be smothered to death by the hype surrounding such a commitment.

It's worth a try if one plans to have a tattoo anyway, but there are enough other simply RCs known to work well. At least you get a creativity point from me.

What i did is write the word dream on my hand, and wait til i start dreaming to see if the words have changed or, if its not there. If i see what i wrote with a pen on my hand and see the word dream, then that will remind me if i'm dreaming. Maybe that'll make me have a lucid,

The onw proble with the tatoo idea is that it should word for a while untile you get used to it then the effect would start to wear off.

Why not just wear a bracelet, or a watch, with the words inscribed? Removeable, and the watch is multi-use. The only times you don't wear a watch are during times when you are alone.

You might want to just write it instead with a sharpie or pen.

Yeah, "dream" is on my hand since 3 days ago. I wrote it with a Gel-Mini. Their ink lasts pretty long.

The thing is, isn't your hand a RC on it's own? Why write something on it or some other part of your body? You see your hand more than any other part of your body anyway probably.

Regardless, I have noticed that habits (biting nails, doing reality checks, etc.) don't manifest themselves in dreams (at least not for me). The purpose of RCs are to make you question reality not to actually realize that reality is real or that your dream world is not. I bet that if someone got a tattoo reminding them of dreams, that person would become lucid 99/100 times just from questioning their reality over actually noticing their tattoo.

or tie a rag around your arm and keep it during day take it off for night that works for me
the reason for taking it off is during lucid you watch your hands and the rag isnt there

Insanity is the mind's only effective defense against reality.
sometimes dreams are so good that it hurts to wake up... .

A bit extreme for those that are just trying to lucid dream, however I don't see any problem with it if your a tattoo guy. Maybe a small one on your hand, still noticeable to you. I personally wouldn't do it, but maybe it's just because i'm a wuss.

That's exactly what I was getting at John11. Yeah you could just write something on your hand, but it wouldn't be anymore drawn in by your subconscious than the crazy shirt you might have been wearing for the last three days straight. It wouldn't be that important to you. But the tattoo actually becomes a part of your body. Therefore, it must manifest itself into the dream world noticeably enough to become an automatic RC. For me personally, I use just my hands without anything written on them to RC and I do know that during my regular hours of dreaming, I tend not to think of even doing an RC with my hand. Now if I saw this tattoo in conjunction with dream absurdities, I believe I would make the connection 9 times out of 10. I doubt I would ever get a tattoo anyway but the hypothetical really intrigues me.
