      mah problem

      First post. Wewt.
Anyways, I need some help. I've been lurking for a while, and just recently made my account. My problem is, near the last few minutes of my dream (right before my alarm for school goes off) I know that I'm dreaming.
Someone steals my wallet, I think to my self 'it's ok, I'm just dreaming, I'll wake up in a few minutes anyways'. This has been happening almost every other night for the past few weeks, and I always wake up hating my self for not doing anything about it.
Any tips on remembering to control my dreams when I know I'm in one?

What you've described seems to me like a borderline recurring dream.
You're incredibly lucky that your recurring dream is a lucid one, however. We just have to learn to exploit it.
I think you're carrying a negative mindset with you, when you say:
'its ok, im just dreaming, ill wake up in a few minutes anyways'

It's like you're planning the dream (and it's ending point) before it even happens. (Incubation.)
Even if you think you're not. You are, because you even posted it here on the forums.
What I suggest is incubating something in your mind to counter this.
Think positive thoughts, replace any thoughts of waking up prematurely, with having a long and controlled lucid dream before waking up.
If this dream is reoccurring, then you also have a ticket to a free lucid dream every night if done correctly.

I would try autosuggestion, or just repeating your intentions multiple times in your mind before bed:
"Next time I am lucid, I will take active control and make the most of it."

Here's some advice I gave one of my adoptees about this:

Yes, this is common. Many people forget about their goals once they're actually in the dream because their mind is a little fuzzy. What I like to do is take a moment and think about things in real life while I'm lucid (for instance my school classes and which periods I have them), then you will be in a more focused state of mind and be able to remember your goals. I also find it helps to rehearse the goals in your head before you go to sleep; just think about what you're going to do once you become lucid.

Fortunately, once you become lucid, it's not hard to add other rational thoughts.

Write down one or two small lucid dreaming goals (flying). Focus on one at a time, and only one (until you achieve that goal). Review this goal before bed, and during any WBTB sessions you might do. Hopefully, the idea will stick, and you will remember once you become lucid. Patience is key--it might not happen on your first try!

hey everyone, thanks so much for all the help! well, last night the same thing happened, but worse. i actually reality checked, but it failed. I was shot into the sky on a board of some sort and while i was thousands of feet in the air i thought to myself 'hey...this isnt probable! i must be dreaming! lemme reality check' i tried the one to put my index finger through my hand and it didnt go through. i totally think you guys are right, its just my mindset. ill try to focus on knowing what to do and maybe reality check more thoroughly.

Thats one of the reasons to make it a habit to mix up your Reality Checks and do more than one. They won't always work, especially if you do the same ones over and over.
