And PLEASE dont compare this to religion, cause thats an arguement no one can win. I know a handful of people who believe in some form of evidence... but whatever.
Our knowledge of dreaming has come a long ways since ETWOLD came out in 1991. You can find pretty much all the info contained in the book on Dreamviews, and much much more on the forums. Everything builds off of LaBerge's book. I think it's a good book to be familiar with, if only to see where this all came from (obviously people have been LDing a long time and LaBerge wasn't the first to do it.... But it's only recently that people have begun scientifically looking at it).
A lot of people (including many here on the forum) are now expanding on our knowledge of dreams and exploring new possibilities. There's a lot more out there now, but ETWOLD is a good place to start.
Obviously, you don't need to read the book to have LDs. Like I said, all the info in the book can easily be found here on DV.
I have no idea why you're comparing this to religion. Your second statement doesn't really make sense.
