      Subliminal Software: does it work?

      Just installed Subliminal Blaster. Its got Dream Control messages already installed. If you don't know, it flashes pre-chosen sentences on the screen every 4 secs.

      Does anyone know if this actually works?

      There was a big hub-bub on Dreamviews about this a while back, to be honest I don't remember anyone have any success. The way subliminals work only encourage thought towards a certain subject a really small amount, nothing really influential seriously influential.
      The most famous study involving subliminal messages was James Vicary's 1957 study that announced that messages flashed on screen during a movie could be used to influence people to buy cola and popcorn. This claim was later refuted and James Vicary admitted to fabricating the results.

      Dr. Johan Karremans adjusted the claims of subliminal messages, announcing that subliminal messages worked if they were goal oriented. His study flashed the words "Lipton Ice" on screen fro 24 milliseconds and when given a choice of drinks, more than a statistically significant group asked for Lipton Ice tea over the control group. The messages, however, had no effect on those who were not thirsty to begin with; thus the term 'goal oriented'.

      Subliminal persuasion is still a controversial topic, there is evidence that it works and evidence that it doesn't. Many members of Dreamviews have had lucid dreams after listening to subliminal messages, however there is not sufficient study to prove that it's not a placebo effect.

      I've honestly never gotten anything out of these things, so I'm skeptical of them...but hey, if it works for you, go for it.
