      DEILD Tips

I've noticed a lot of people are having difficulties DEILDing, so I'm posting this. I had two last night and one a week ago using this method, so maybe it'll help you. It's pretty simple.

Besides not moving and staying relaxed after a dream, there's something else that can help:

When you're at the end of a dream, take a 'screenshot' of the last scene you see until you find yourself in bed. For instance, if the last thing you're doing is sitting on the floor of your room, petting your cat, remember that. Remember the feelings and the senses.

Next, when you're in bed, don't use inner dialogue. Try not to think, "I'm going to DEILD now", or the latter. You have to think about that 'last scene' fairly quickly, and include the senses; smell the room, feel the objects you were touching! I think this is what makes the brain think you're still asleep: that you are still in the dream, carrying out the same thing you were just doing. You should be thrusted back into a dream within 20 seconds. Sometimes it's a pretty electrifying experience; you can get SP vibrations and everything!

One of the two DEILDs I got last night was a FA, though, so make sure to do an RC. If nothing seems to happen, wait a minute before getting up.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Thanks, Demera. Maybe this explains why I fail every time. I always worry when I'll reach SP and such stuff.

Don't hope for it to happen. Just say it will happen, I know it will

      Okay.
If this works for enough people, DV should add it to the DEILD tutorial. It might make it easier for people.

The only problem I have with DEILD, is it has the potential to kill my recall. There is a good chance I will fall back asleep, lose lucidity, and forget everything. I only really do it when I want a lucid dream marathon, or am not satisfied with the dreams I've had so far. If I don't care about forgetting the dream I've already had, I will go ahead and give it a shot.

I agree. I can usually only recall the DEILD(s) I've had, and not the dreams before.

Am I dreaming? Do a Reality Check. Is this is a dream?

I think that's defined as a really, really short WBTB WILD. DEILD's when you don't move at all after waking from a dream.

Hmmm... That is actually what I do.

My first priority is making sure I will remain conscious. The place in which I appear in the dream comes second. In fact, I really don't care whether or not I continue in the same dream scene.

What I do is I repeatedly tell myself "I am dreaming, I am dreaming, I am dreaming..."
This means that this phrase is repeated in my mind till I am in the dream, and that phrase will still be repeating, and there we go, in a lucid dream.

That's just me though. Everyone is different I suppose.

Well... seeing as DEILD is a form of WILD, this doesn't really matter.
Especially seeing as DEILD is, more precisely, "a really, really short WBTB WILD".

It is hard to draw an exact line between WILD and DEILD.

After reading some stuff on DEILD I have a question. I know this is said in the tip that you think of the last scene of your dream you remember... But I'm wondering, can you have a DEILD by thinking of a completely new scene, or is is 100% necessary to think of your previous dreams?
Send her a letter with a dead squirrel and a message "Like this squirrel, my love for you has expired"?

I've tried this twice before, but it's pretty difficult from my experience. I have never accomplished that. IMO It'd be easier to just not take the chance, and change locations once inside the dream.

I've just had an idea, would it be easier to DEILD if you imagined that you were still dreaming when you'd woken up? Pretend that it's a false awakening, and that you're in a lucid dream, and then try to change the dream scene like you would in an LD (without moving, of course).
