      I missed my reality check!

I was there, I was in a dream and I did a reality check....I missed it!
      I was SOOOO close!
I checked my watch, looked at the numbers (they were 1 to 12 in order) The hands were running in the right direction.
I read some words on a label nearby, read them again and they didn't change.

And Dan Aykroyd was putting diesel in my semi tractor trailer (that doesn't exist) while I fought the drug lords (who I never met) as I shot at them through the walls with a modified M1 garand (that I don't own).

And yet the last time I had a Lucid dream I could conjure up tornadoes from the palm of my hand and send them screaming down the highway as I flew from rooftop to rooftop. I could dismiss people from the room like switching off a light, I could create and destroy at will and I am fooled by my own imagination to believe what I have made is real....even when I question it.

I think the "reality check" needs a rework.

For anyone who has a very vivid imagination or a great memory for detail I suggest that the "reality check" should be changed to an "UNreality check"

Look around, say UNreality check out loud and ask yourself.

-Am I somewhere other than work or home?
-Is there something or someone new here?
      -Can I change anything?

Then try to fly or move an object.

      Just my 2 cents.

I feel so stupid dreaming a reality check and missing it, I expected what I saw and I believed it when I saw it.

lol you should have looked back a few more times, no RC can work every time, so it is just normal.

No reason to beat yourself over it. My hand RC in my first LD didn't work but I just realized that I was dreaming, so, ya, it'll work, gotta give it sometime

I had to figure out reality checks that work for me. Twice, I've tried pushing my finger through my palm, and twice, it failed. Unfortunately, I can never remember to do more than one when dreaming (even though I have always, always done 3 or more when I learned about reality checks), so I had to come up with something that would work the first time.

Since I've been keeping my dream journal, I've noticed that whether I'm lucid or not, I can morph things in my dreams (change the appearance somehow).

So, that's my new test when I figure I might be dreaming. Can I stare at something and morph it?

I've also heard somewhere that analog watches - for whatever reason - tend to work properly in dreams. It's digital watches that "malfunction."

Hmm. Know what I think? In my opinion, if you're going to realise it's a dream, you will.
Otherwise, you're just dreaming that you did a reality check. I hardly ever gain the awareness to perform a reality check. Ya know what I mean?

So effectively, you dreamed that you did an RC which didn't work.
In reality, you would have realised that the scenario was completely weird, so I think, most of the time, you either know it's a dream or you don't.

In this case, you were just never meant to realise it was a dream.

Well I will continue to do my unreality checks and see if I can bring them into my sleep.
On a side note since I have started trying to actively become lucid by checking throughout the day I have been having wicked nightmares, a couple times a week. Not terrifying but I sure get the creeps thinking about them during the day.

I drowned once in a wooden ball....like an old bathysphere (submarine) but it had no controls.

And my sand spreader was clogged with body parts (chopped up faces)

If anything I'm a little more motivated to get lucid so I can stop these things when they happen.

The problem I'm having, is I pinch my nose and can't figure out wether I'm breathing or not because I have a snuffed nose in Real Life. Then I wake up and kick myself for not realizing I could indeed breath.
