      Stryke,

I had an interesting collection of dreams and subsequent experience involving a bull, which might have some relevance.

As a child I had also recurring lucid nightmares of an aircraft resembling an F-117 (stealth fighter, now retired), which has some similarities to your minotaur dreams. These dreams tied into events later in my life, but the relevant point here are that they were lucid and recurring, and the thought of power that was in the form of the aircraft seems related to the bull in another of my dreams, described below.

At the start of the dream (in about 1995) there was a fire. A girl, who I loved in waking life, stood and watched it in a hypnotized daze, resigned to it. Rather than accept that fate, I ran away through a corn field. Eventually the rows of corn became wooden walls in a barn-like structure. At the end of the passage was a bull, waiting to kill me. Trapped, I began tearing laterally through walls, crossing into the neighboring passageways in search of a way around the bull. Then I woke up.

With retrospect, the rows of corn were parallel worlds, so to speak, with a single row being a particular life path, and the bull is an evil end that I wished to avoid.

Many years later I had a related dream, this time fleeing a totalitarian theocracy. There is a racist cast to this one which I don't believe is entirely right or true or real - I'm just describing what I experienced. The theocracy in the dream was huge and powerful, spanning many worlds beyond ours, and had an Asiatic ethnic base. Think Tibetan Buddhism, but more grand and technological, and with an aura of communal good feeling enforced with a Nazi-like genocidal brutality. The god of this religion seeks to subsume everything that it can make a part of itself, while destroy everything else. Mao and Pol Pot's movements could be perceived as peripheral echos of something like this. According to the dream, although this god is not centered in or obviously manifest in our world, it is poisoning our collective psychic well. One of the effects of this poisoning is that many Caucasian babies die in the first trimester, or because of events are never conceived. Its not necessarily that European body types are targeted by the god, its more that they're incompatible with it or lacking some kind of acquired immunity. In the dream many people, both Asian and Caucasian, are cooperating to try to save these children.

In the dream I flee across a landscape, accompanied by many children, with the scale of the landscape being much bigger than in the first dream. A vast beautiful cultivated expanse replaces the rows of corn, something like strips of green turf punctuated with bamboo. In this dream the wooden walls are more like a tall forest, or even tremendously high stone arches. These walls represent the collective body of an Asian race, and offers protection from the spirit we are fleeing. In other words, 'saving the children' amounts in large part to finding suitable Asian or mixed-race bodies for them to be born into, because otherwise they can't survive as who they need to be. While fleeing across the open space we are pursued by flying machines, but once we reach the forest we are safe. At the entrance, one little girl becomes tangled in thorns, and I go back to help her while other children run on ahead. Then I wake up.

Note the difference from the first dream in that there I was doomed, but here the way to safety is open.

In a subsequent dream, probably within a couple of days of this last one, it seemed that a kind of blessing was made on me, with the condition that I was to 'put myself ahead of no-one'. As I understand this sort of thing, the blessing amounts to a curse to whatever extent I betray it.

On about the next day, in waking life, I went hiking and climbed a high peak, reaching it at sunset. Many other people were already up there, or coming up behind me. The requirement of humility or service was still strong enough in my mind that I felt uncomfortable starting down the mountain 'in front of' the other people, even though this seemed like a silly or unreasonably literal interpretation. But I did anyway, and took a wrong turn that resulted in my getting lost and having to climb almost all the way to the top again before starting down on the right side of the mountain. By then everyone else was down ahead of me except a couple of Indians who walked a short distance behind me. By now it was quite dark, with no moon that I recall. About halfway down the mountain, a black man passed us going the other way, too dark for me to see him except in outline. He shouted back to us that there had been a bull on the trail ahead of us, but that it was OK, because he had driven it off. One of the other people asked him why he was going up the mountain at dark, with us the last ones coming down, and he replied 'someone has to'. At that moment I felt that the bull in 'real life' symbolized the same thing as the bull in the dream from 15 years ago, and that the path was now somehow clear because of this other Christ-like man. I don't mean Christ-like in that he's some kind of benevolent guru. I mean that somehow, by having shouldered the burden that is his life as an African human, he has somehow provided an essential service to everyone, enabling their spiritual progress. So I feel a great deal of joy and gratitude towards him, to what he represents, even though I don't very much understand it.

Anyway, that's my bull-related dream and experience. There's more related back-story to some of this stuff, and other related dreams, but that's a core part of it.

I dont believe the mala beads helped, thats why I stopped using them. When I used them my mind would just go blank as I said the mantra, some people think thats a good thing but I found it to be irritating and a waste of time, I always felt the same after the mantra chant as I did before. I still pray often but I find it to be a much different thing than manta chanting. I feel I get something from it. So bottom line, no I dont think they gave me strenght in my meditations, in fact I think most mantra chanting shouldnt even be classified as meditation since the word comes from the latin 'meditatum' which means 'to ponder', and most mantra chanting is mean to quiet the mind and essentially think about nothing.

Entertaining dream thread Regarding meditation: It is basically about quieting the mind. A means to getting rid of the usual brain-chatter. No doctrine owns a true definition or method of meditation. And regarding the beads: If you used them for meditation over some time, they are very likely a symbol on a deeper level in your consciousness for this spiritually searching or empowering part of you. My thoughts. Harry Potter had a ridiculous-spell, where he made the fear-manifestations look ridiculous, like putting rollerskates on a scary spider (who did that?). What would make the minotaur look ridiculous?
