That was sleep paralysis. You had a dream in which you experienced something intense (fear?), and woke up prematurely. Your brain releases a chemicals while you're dreaming to paralyze your muscles, so you don't act out your dreams. You were awake, but the chemical was still in effect.
As I understand it, an OBE is when you have a sensation of floating up out of your body in your room.
It's rare, but some people hallucinate when they get sleep paralysis. So if you ever get it again and see something, don't be afraid. It's also common to feel a pressure on your chest.
I used to get sleep paralysis several times a night when I was 15-16. I'd try to make myself move, succeed, try to fall back asleep, and go back into paralysis. It was so bad, it was difficult to fall asleep sometimes. I also used to get OBEs often, every night or two, around the same time. (Oddly, my mom has told me that she used to get sleep paralysis when she was about 15, so I've wondered that it might be genetic.)
