Part of dream happened for real

Seven years ago I moved out of my parents house and into a flat with my son and my boyfriend. About two months after moving my boyfriend was away for the night and I had the following dream.

I was in my flat and it was daytime. There was a bouncy castle outside my balcony (I'm on the first floor) and loads of kids were jumping on it. One by one they bounced high enough to get onto my balcony. There was an old lady sitting in my living room and she helped each child enter my flat. I had an argument with her about it, insisting she and the children had no right to be there. I demanded they leave. She threatened to call for backup, I said go ahead. This is where it gets really weird.
A few minutes later a black guy and a white girl were trying to break my door down. They were kicking it and hitting it with their fists. I ran to the kitchen to get a knife and I don't remember any more.

I didn't think anything of the dream except it was quite scary. But the next day a neighbour (she claimed to live a few doors down) knocked on my door and asked if I'd had a party the previous night. I explained I had a baby so parties were out of the question. She then wanted to know why a black guy and a white girl had been knocking on my door loud enough to wake her.
That in itself I found strange but the weirdest part is my son was a very light sleeper, and so was I. Why didn't either of us wake up? Also, I haven't seen the neighbour since. It's possible she moved away shortly after but none of my other neighbours know of anyone fitting her description.
I know I was definitely awake when she knocked because after I called my boyfriend and told him.

Any thoughts or possible explainations as to what may have happen would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sorry for rambling on a bit

      Very odd

I would try to find out more about this neighbor from other neighbors. Perhaps in your sleep you picked up the disturbance at your front door and dreamed of it. Who ever they where it all sounds disturbing! Beyond that I just do not know. Very strange!

Yeah I agree that's pretty strange. Here's a few ideas, though none of them seem right.

The lady from down the hall had the same dream as you, and confused her dream for reality. This I know is possible from my own experience, though in your example there seems to be no purpose to it.

People did really knock on your door, but your minds were blocked so that you would not wake up. This also requires a supernatural component. I know someone else who claimed to have that happen to them, and I've had weirder experiences. But again there seems to be no purpose to it.

The lady who talked to you the next day was a lucid dream also. This seems far fetched.

You didn't wake up because it wasn't actually your door that was being knocked on, but you did hear the knocking down the hall, which influenced the dream. This seems like the best idea so far.

Someone knocked on your door in another world very similar to ours. You didn't wake up because it wasn't in our world. The other lady had a dream of it for the same reason, and confused the dream with reality. This seems possible to me.

Someone knocked on your door in another world very similar to ours, and your neighbor was from that world also. I've had several verifiable experiences of worlds getting mixed up that way, as weird as it sounds, and have a coworker who has also. Most people don't talk about these sorts of things because they don't want to sound crazy. But again there seems to be a missing cause or motive. Everything happens for a reason, and something like what you described would have required a fairly strong one. So something still seems to be hidden.

Those are my ideas off the cuff.

Someone just knocked on your door at night it, the sounds went through to you in your dream but you didn't quite wake, the old lady saw them because she was still up at night, then she came to your house to warn you because she was worried and or crazy and or a ghost and or you are schizophrenic.

      Okay....

You are completely insane. Now, that we have that out of the way... To me, it sounds like you were perceiving the physical plane while you were dreaming.

Ok, well, some mixed ideas there. Thank you all for your comments, they're very appreciated.
It certainly is possible that I'm crazy, I have after all fancied Boris Johnson for years
