I have always been into dreaming but never researching it, so I had a question about what all of you would call this...

I've always had a really hard time waking up non-naturally, like by alarms or other people waking me up. I think it is because my body simply needs to lie there a few minutes to adjust my mind back into reality. I have a hard time transitioning I guess. Once when I was little, I was woken up and as brushing my teeth I very realistically heard people laughing. No one was there and I knew it was in my head, but I definitely heard laughter. I also have seen mild hallucinations upon waking up from time to time. As a child, I saw lights dancing across my ceiling which at that age, I thought were angels. Kinda cool This morning when my alarm went off, a pillow was in front of my face, but I saw a very distinct troll-looking character. I laughed because I knew it wasn't real and it was some remnant of the dream I was having. As I became more aware, the troll slowly faded back into a pillow and I could see my room clearly. What is this? I assume it is something like sleep paralysis but I thought that only happened while falling asleep, not waking up. Has anyone else experienced this or can provide insight?
