Dreaming while on the border of being awake/asleep

Lately I have started dreaming while I'm still awake, just before going to sleep for the night. It feels like I'm right on the border of sleep. Isn't this an ideal place to be for OBEs?

Often while I'm in this state, I'll feel some vibrations. Not constantly, but patches of them.

I try so hard to stay alert in my mind but end up just falling asleep.

Side note: I have started writing down my dreams. Will this aid me in dream recall in general and lucid dreaming?

dream journal is key for sure. sounds pretty encouraging to me like you are right on the verge of a WILD. you might need to do a little more studying up on how it works but yes it can definitely be a launch pad to an OBE. you may need to focus your intention more on the OBE and also try using some mantras as you're falling to sleep. if you're feeling vibrations though you are 90% there.

Dream journal will definitelly help with dream recall and having better dreams. Every action you take when you think about your dreams tells your mind that you like having them and it will help you achieve that. On occasion, I write "thank you for my dreams" in my DJ and I say it after some dreams. Just in case anybody listens, haha.

I think that vibrations, being relaxed and having right mindset is the key to OBEs. While for a WILD, you have to be near REM to have a nice dream, you don't need REM for OBE.

The more you think about vibrations and your desire to notice them, the more you will notice them. Good luck

      Thanks for the responses

As I have been writing down my dreams, I have been dreaming more and my recall is better! It's amazing, you are right gab. I have been attempting WILD each night since but have unfortunately fallen asleep prematurely

      Bring on tonight!

I'm sure you know this, but you not mentioning it, so I will - WILD before bed is very hard to get. Best time is after some hours of sleep.
If you do WBTB and then you fall asleep too soon, try to stay up longer, and a mantra will also help to keep your mind occupied, so it doesn't fall asleep on you.

What I love about the dream recall the best are the old and long forgotten dreams popping to my mind almost daily.
      Good luck
