Advice needed: Spiritual intentions in LD

Stop fooling around in LD! Seek a higher purpose!
After fooling around with sex and flying, passing through walls or going around looking for signs that one is in an "actual real" place and all that stuff, which is indeed fun and exciting but feels like a waste of lucidity (considering the advanced thing LD is seen by the Tibetans for example), I wondered if not LD really should be used for some higher purposes, like healing oneself, meeting with guardian angels or one's higher self, or finding lost parts of one's soul, meditating in the dream, become enlightened, energize or vitalize oneself, intending mana, prana or whatever you call it, or clearing oneself of negativity, envelope oneself in love or light, encounter mythical beings for guidance or help or acquire shamanic spirit helpers and other such much more valuable stuff.
So I wonder, have anyone tried any of this and what were your experiences like?

I, myself never managed to hold on to a really serious spiritual intention yet, or always encountered obstacles when I did remember the intention, and would like to start a thread where all this is collected together for some valuable info on this.

      Mythical dreams in LD
I have, for example stumbled upon something like guardians or gatekeepers in those more "mythical" dreams where I have intended to have some spiritual experience, gatekeepers which one apparently needs to deal with in the right way to proceed. Ask the right question, maybe? But if so, what is the right question?
Also, I have had a follower in several lucid dreams, always a young woman, always following slightly behind to the left or right, keeping out of direct sight. Is there any action or question one should address such a character? Is it a Jungian anima-figure?
And when attacked by a gatekeeper, (once one was shooting arrows on me when I tried to cross a river) should one response with aggression (which I did and it only got worse, the archer got really pissed off and I just couldn't move on) or is there another approach?
Should one ask for their names and ask for their help in specific matters? Or is there a battle to win by sheer force of will power? How? By fighting physically with bare hands or by intending powerful shields and weapons?
I was once chased away when I stumbled upon what appeared to be a secret meeting by men in masks and armour, maybe I am not worthy to be there? Maybe I am not enough emotionally purified or spiritual enough or strong enough to attend such meetings or encounter spiritual beings? Anyone had similar thoughts on this?

      Real life in LD
And the last LD I had last week, I was looking at streetsigns on the street outside my apartment, trying to verify the realness of the place which is really a waste of time, when I could have intended to get into a meditative state or energize myself or something like that. But how do you do that from such a starting-point? How do you intend such a thing? Is it even possible? I meditate regularly but it takes time to get into a meditative state and I fear that one would lose lucidity if one tries that in the dream. And what happens if you silence the mind when meditating in a LD? Or, what is the best intention to do when you find yourself in what appears to be like real life? Lots of info at once, but please give me some feedback on any of these numerous topics!

      ^^ Welcome Noman!

I'm surprised your OP hasn't got any responses yet, as this is an interesting subject -- and one that is often discussed here at DV.

You might consider browsing the Beyond Dreaming forums, because that is the place where we discuss those things that go, well, beyond, the basic stuff of LD'ing.

I personally use LD'ing as a tool for exploration rather than entertainment, as a vehicle for pushing the envelope of conscious experience. I have no time right now for details, but you might browse the threads I've started, because several of them are about pushing that envelope.

Good luck in your search, and I hope we hear more from you.. I also hope that someone less rude than me addresses the specific questions you ask above!

      Hi Noman,
You should always address anybody in your dreams with love and peace. If it is spirituality you are seeking in your LD's then that is an important step. You must remember that Fear is only relative to you. The way i see F.E.A.R is false.evidence.appearing.real. It was created by you in your mind so it is You who will get rid of it.
And if someone is attacking you in your LD's try to remember that we are all light beings in an infinite universe. Create a shield of white light energy so that anything that tries to attack you will fail. You can think of this before you go to sleep. For me it is always in my mind and heart so It's not forgotten. If I ever feel evil or even think of evil I picture it disintegrating into light particles and merging with all of the light around us. It has helped me through the worst situations. Love is the strongest energy and once you are conscious of that, darkness can't penetrate you.
And honestly I don't think it has to do with asking the right question. You just need to know in your heart, mind, and soul that you are ready to enter any gate.
You are already on your way to seeing your true power.

For me, the most important purpose of LD is exactly what you're saying. Recently I started to go deep on this subject when I tried something different than pleasure in a LD, what I discovered was that there's a lot to know about our inner self. Now I use it to find and accept the lost parts of myself.
Another thing I've found is that when I generate compassion and empathy for others in a common dream, I become lucid and experience blissful states. Once I experienced the feeling of letting go, but the REAL letting go of a desire, it was one of the most incredible experiences I've had (no need for drugs).

Also, what you're saying about the verification of realness as a waste of time is not true. What I've learned of LD is the ability to enjoy the present moment, touching things, seeing, tasting, hearing....I've found the beauty in things we consider "common things" that we usually take for granted.
Since every sensation is as real as the waking life, I ended up enjoying real life the same as if it was a LD, why not?... in the end it's all experience, we're just experiencing, we are consciousness experiencing...
Meditating is not only sitting in lotus position, clearing the mind of thoughts and all that. Meditating can be done with any activity, being fully in the present, if you're really in the present moment using your five senses there are no thoughts, and that's what happens in LD, you need to be completely present to continue in the dream, if not, you fall again in the dream, exactly as in waking life.
Have your read Robet Waggoner's book?? "Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the inner self", it could give you some advice on that.

      Hi bonanza
I really like your questions and the response so far. All I can add is that not forcing any intention in LD can be quite rewarding. Sometimes just being present and aware as your dream carries on can lead to great discoveries and enlightenment. You can even pay attention to some things as you meditate. I get some awesome images while meditating, I just don't know how to interpret a lot of those images.
Good Lucy and I might add some experiences as they come up.
