Psychic self defense and overcoming fear

We all know how important belief, intention and expectation is in dreams and the how fear can wreak havoc on our dream worlds. So how does one overcome it? and how do you protect yourself from such things?

For me, I had to push through all the fear and experience enough terrifying things that I became immune to it. I no longer saw fear as something to be afraid of, but rather something to learn from. Often when we feel fearful, it's not a bad feeling just an unusual and uncommon feeling that we aren't used to, and feels similar to excitement just without the pleasantness when you examine it from a non-personal or non-judgmental viewpoint. But sometimes, fear can become so overwhelming and unpleasant that it literally freezes, incapacitates or paralyzes you. We produce this emotion as a means to pay attention and be cautious or wary in what we are currently doing, with the overwhelming part being a survival mechanism similar to bracing before a plane or car crash. It wasn't until I realized that everything inside dreams or sleep paralysis was entirely made up in my mind that I had a breakthrough, although having said this I later discovered that's not entirely the case (shared dreaming, astral projection, transcendental, etc.). None the less, it became obvious that to overcome fear you have to face it, and see it at face-value, see it for what it is - something trying to scare you to make you feel vulnerable so that you expose your weaknesses. Whereas if you remain strong, unhindered and unafraid, completely calm and collective you never expose any weakness or flaw that can be exploited. Instead, you are able to fight back or take actions to get out of danger. More often than not, the moment you recognize fear once you've had the epiphany it can't hurt you, you're able to change the situation instantly through conjuring up an alternative solution, redirecting the flow of events, or using distraction as a means to get out of the situation.

Over the years, I've tried many different counter-measures against dark forces in dreams (and reality), but for the most part only made things worse. I believe the reason for this has something to do with the fact "your energy flows where your focus goes" so the very thought or act of defending yourself from 'something' is in fact creating or attracting it (which could happen on a subconscious level as well). It would be better then to always have your attention on things you want in your life, rather than things you don't want, and trying to ingrain this subconsciously. This is where belief, intention and expectation come into play because if you are always believing, intending and expecting good things to happen then it's more likely to happen and more regularly going to happen, than if you were putting your attention on the opposite side of the coin.

The best defense is a good offense, light always triumphs over darkness, so the best counter-measure or defense/offense is to always be unconditionally loving, kind and compassionate and always serving the greater good. Never worrying about being attacked because you are always a beacon of light and positivity, that anything negative is deflected, reflected and repelled away and doesn't even bother with you because it can't ever even get close, and the thought never arises in the first place. Obviously this is pretty hard to achieve on a regular day-to-day basis with all our ups and downs. Most people's default state is neutral/flat/empty or fluctuating between fear-based thoughts/emotions and love-based thoughts/emotions. So the idea is to "raise your vibration" by changing your beliefs, attitude, expectations and whatever else is necessary so that your default state is always in the higher vibrations of love and acceptance, peace and joy. Try to bring more light and love into yourself and those around you, school your thoughts and train your mind to think more positively and do things which make you feel good and happy. It could be considered wearing rose-coloured glasses because it's not all sunshine and rainbows, but would you rather look through a rose-tinted lens or a lens so black you cannot see? If the lens is clear then you see the full spectrum but ultimately end up in a neutral state or fluctuating around it.

      Ask yourself these questions:
How many times have you felt grateful today? how many times have you helped others today? how many times have you swore? it's called a curse word for a reason so we should try to never use it.
We can practice being grateful by keeping a diary similar to a dream journal, write 3 things down every day that you are grateful for every day. Start the journal only writing things that happened in the distant past, with each day bringing you closer to the the present moment. After a while, you can then change it from a gratefulness journal to an intention journal, start writing 3 things down each day you would like to achieve or would be grateful for if they happened, 3 things you would like to intend to happen. You could even use your dream journal as a way to write these 3 things in it before and after going to sleep.

There is a neat trick here as well, you have probably heard someone say before "don't think about a pink elephant" and you instantly think of what they tell you not to. We can use that same reverse psychology by saying "don't think of something good" and we should actually use this technique any time we have a negative thought cross our mind. The universe doesn't differentiate between what's good or bad and we see this in nature as both creation and destructive force e.g. tree's growing, storms demolishing, a planet flourishing only to be destroyed by a comet or asteroid. The universe simply creates more of what is being given the most attention, what is being focused on and we see this in physics too with the never ending search for smaller and smaller particles, or cosmology looking out further and further into space trying to find something, only to find something more. We see it in people too the way they create more of the things they expect, and how people usually do more of that which they enjoy which is of course the thing they put their attention on the most.

TLDR: the key to overcoming fear and being in full control lies in facing it and changing your view of the world so that you are always focusing on the things you want, rather than then things you don't want.

Unless we have a PTSD and even if we know how fear is working, we can't control our body chaotic reaction, I still try to minimize its effect, but if I have a sudden encounter with a trigger the chain reaction is unavoidable. Just for information I received my PTSD during MRI scan, the mri was very narrow, just like a coffin and there were terribly sounds and flashes of light when the magnets are rotating, they kept me there for a hour completely still, which was double than maximum allowed, even after I told them I have a claustrophobia. I got something similar to SP with some vivid hallucinations. When I got out of there I was nauseous and I was barely able to walk.

      Hi Michael,

I hadn't considered PTSD when I wrote that, however I was also labelled once as having schizophrenia. I even got to read the doctors report once which mentioned everything from psychosis, mania, anxiety, PTSD, depression, right through to delusions of grandeur and other terms being used such as 'thought broadcast'. I've since recovered completely, and one of the things I realized along the way is that these are all just labels and big pharma only offers treatments instead of cures. The other thing I realized was that I had to take my own health in my own hands, no one can heal yourself better you can (at least when it comes to mental health), as only you know yourself better than anyone else. Most people who recover, do so because they were encouraged or empowered to do so by someone else and then take it upon themselves to work towards a path that will lead them to their own self-recovery.

We absolutely can control our bodily reactions, an extreme example would be Wim Hof (the Iceman) or countless others in history eg. great magicians (Houdini), buddhist monks, etc. What happens when you try to hurt someone who perceives both pain and happiness as neither good or bad, but rather a choice? what about the people who get pleasure from pain? eg. BDM. What happens when you no longer fear death and know with 100% certainty that death is not the end? if you no longer fear death, there is not much left to be fearful of besides perhaps the pain of death. The point I'm making here is that we have a choice when it comes to how we perceive things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Is the glass half full, or half empty? or is just a glass with water in it?
