I heard that theory before... I think it is true not that all dreams are black and white, but the BLACK AND WHITE part comes from your mind, and your memories put in color. So technically your dreams are all in color... but they are black and whtie with color put into them... kind of hard to explain.

I dont think I understand? are you suggesting that the memories add the color upon waking up? or that the memories add the color while you are dreaming? if the memories add the color while you are dreaming why do they have to start in black and white?

I mean, if a tree is in my dream and its bark is brown and its leaves are green, of course you can say my memories of what a tree looks like gave it those colors. but I dont have any solid memories of a black and white tree so why would my mind put one there? and since dreams are formed from our memories to begin with, why would anything start out as black and white? the theory is just a myth. people reported having black and white dreams more often when television was black and white.

It's not "just a myth" I just simply don't remember the facts from where I read it (I believe it was from exploring the world of lucid dreaming). The "myth" is that all dreams are in black and white. But I think there is something about black and white dreams being the base and color being added by your memories... or something like that.

ROYGBIV and all the colors that can be derived from those. That's all.

I saw a fourth primary color once. It tasted like chicken.

Okay, just so we can clear this up, I was listening to the radio a few days ago, and they were talking about dreams. In the early 20th century, when black and white TV was all they had, a rumor started that people dream just like a TV, in black and white. This is completely ridiculous, but for some reason, it was passed down the generations and people still believe it today. Don't ask me why.

Anyway, even though we all dream in color, a lot of times, the colors don't stand out much unless they're important. For instance, I have trouble (and you most likely do too) recalling the color of the shirt you were wearing in your last dream. We forget it because it isn't important. But once, I had a dream where the color blue stood out throughout the dream. This led me to believe that the color blue was somehow important... don't ask me why.

Read what I said before.... you're not "clearing" anything up. I didn't say that everyone's dreams are in black and white. This is OBVIOUSLY untrue. Anecdotes are pretty good evidence when everyone in the world (pretty much) can give a counterexample to that theory and people have no reason to lie. As I said, the theory had something to do with your mind putting in black and white light, but your memories attributing the colors to it. I forget what the theory was, so I can't really confirm it very much. I'm not saying I believe in it, I'm just presenting it.

I was thinking the same thing a while ago... it's probably pretty hard to conceive.

Sorry, I didn't realize how cocky I sounded until I read over my last post again... I didn't mean to imply that I had the "end-all solution", I was just meaning to state my opinion on the matter. Sorry if anyone took it the wrong way.

Lol, not to be cocky either,
When people see a fourth primary colour it would be impossible to try and explain it. To describe something without referencing another thing is impossible. So if the fourth colour was not made by the other primary colours it is completely different, therefore:
      You cannot do it.

Oh and by the way, has any ever heard of "the higher conscious" or "collective conscious".

That might have something to do with being able to 'see' a new colour without processing old data in your brain.
