I am a college student. I have no strong belief in anything paranormal but I an open mind. I have been troubled for some time now by my dreams. The dreams I have are of mundane everyday kind of occurrences. But after I wake up and wonder why I dream these things I later find them to happen. I have experienced things I have dreamed now more than 5 occasions in which I could literally know the outcome of whatever the event was that was occurring for several seconds. At first I just shrugged these off as deja vu ,but they are becoming more prevalent and they are starting to frighten me. The worst part of this is I have knowledge of what is happening and going to happen for a very short period of time and am helpless to change it. It plays out like watching a movie.

My worst "vision" so far has been of a conversation between two of my friends one of whom I had not seen in some time. several weeks before the said event I had a dream in which the friend I had not seen in some time had grown a mustache. What I recalled of the dream was the conversation about why he choose to grow said mustache. When I had seen him it was like he was stepping out of my dream. I was shocked that everything happened as I had seen it before and then it was over. I didn't tell anyone I was too afraid that they'd think I was crazy.

Several night ago I went to the movies with my friends and I didn't even realize till I was in the theater that I had dreamed the event before I watched again as it played out for several seconds and then resumed normality. everyone sat as I had dreamed the clip of the movie that I had seen in my dream was the same one I saw on my screen then. Again I kept silent, But now I am very afraid. I don't know why I am seeing things before they happen.

I know it may sound crazy, but I'm not sure of what to do. I've started recording my dreams I've been weeding out things that aren't possible in my dreams from things that are so that I can watch for them to happen. It doesn't make any logical sense though, Some things that I have seen in my dreams happen months later and are so trivial that I can't find any purpose for the foresight I have gained.

If anyone can offer any guidance or help or knows of any reasons this may be happening I would appreciate it. I need to know I'm not going crazy. I need to no that The dreams are just dreams and that this is the real world not the other way around.

It isn't crazy, I'm nearly assured from many such accounts I've read along with my own experiences that Deja Vu indeed emerges from dreams.

And dreams are just as much a part of the real world as the waking state. Sure, dreams are illusions of the mind but the mind has capabilities many have no idea about. Don't let it frighten you, if you're curious of it at all then pursue and discover; if not, forget about it, let it happen as always and just shrug it off. The choice is yours.

Thank you for your faith in my story and for the vote of confidence in that I should not be afraid, But you misunderstand what I fear.

When whatever event I dreamed happens, regardless of what I do, it happens like I dream it. I can't change anything. Its like the only time I had to effect the event was in the dream and the real world is just people playing it out. I'm afraid that I can't control what happens at all and that I may end up watching my demise play out with out any way of changing things.

So far my dreams have been of mundane things. But what happens if the event isn't mundane. What use is knowing what will happen if your powerless to change it.

I feel i have no control in what is happening. That's what I fear. I have had other dreams that are plausible, they seem they could be real. And I don't want them to happen. But if my past experience with this is any indicator, I have no control over it.

If I am correct about my dream it will occur within the next 23 months. I am afraid of it. It is not a matter of life or death but if things play out as I have seen then it will have dire impacts on my life as I know it. Please don't ask me what the dream is; its personal. I just want to know if anyone has been able to change what they have seen and if so how do they do it with so little time to act.

Honestly I do not think that it is necessarily a "precognitive dream" if it happens within the next 23 months. That is a lot of time... A lot can happen in that time. It is not unlikely that something you dream will come true in 2 years

Maybe you are having this dream and given so much warning because you can make a change? It's hard to say how though, or if you even can. I believe that everyday our "futures" change because of decisions we make, so any little decision now could change the outcome of the dream. If the dream is about something changing in your life that you don't want to change, perhaps look at your behavior now and see what you can change in the present that might make the event turn out more positive. However, I wouldn't get so obsessed that you lose sight of the present.

Many people including famous book writers such as Robert Monroe who practice their either astral traveling or out of body experience exploration, begin to develop more psychic power/control and claim that they've started to have precognitive dreams..

It can be something small like dreaming you're holding a bright red shiny helmet that you've never seen before, and then going to a birthday party the next day and seeing someone get that same helmet as a gift...

It's nothing to fear, whether it happens naturally (your case) or through practice and purposeful development it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Even if you have minor pre-cog experiences, it's not like you're going to become a full-blown super psychic nostradamus... (it would've probably been much more noticable by now)..

And don't think that you have to start trying to change things even if you do see something bad. The dimensions of time and space exist on many different levels, and you're just subtly tapping into a different one (from the future) through your dreams..

Lots of people have done it, don't worry about it.

Try and use it to make sports bets

Believing this for me is easy because it happens to me all the time too. For me it has been happening for, well, as long as I can remember. The one difference though is that with me, I usually don't remember dreaming it (but I'm going on the assumption that I am) and when the event starts happening I see it playing in my mind, slightly before it happens.

Quite an odd feeling.

What really confuses me though is that it is mainly un-important (well I think so) events, like the last one was when I was sitting at my computer, and well, I looked at my screen (browsing *cough* questionable material) and suddenly I was certain I knew what was going to happen (my mom was going to walk in on me ) I saw this about 10 seconds beforehand and made sure it didnt happen. Sure enough mother walks in 10 seconds later and starts preaching about how I should be doing homework, it was just as I had seen it except I had time to act on what I had seen. Stuff like this has been going on with me for years and I'm not crazy, maybe I am but whatever

About your being unable to change the events you dream about. I once read a post somewhere that was similar to yours. In it the guy was dreaming of future events that would happen. But eventually he was able to direct the action in his dreams, incuce conversations in the people involved. He claimed it would unfold like his dreams in RL.

Try to be practical about it. This ability can be useful because in the future there may be cases where you will be able to change things. The fact that in past you didn't have time to change things does not mean this will always be the case. This could end up being a great gift.

It's not puzzling to me that it's often about mundane things. I believe precognition to be a natural phenomena, governed by the rules of physics, and not something controlled by some 'high' entities. It is like the rain that often falls on the sea, instead of on the thirsty crops...

Many people would be very envious of you for having such an ability. I'm talking about people that have in interest in the paranormal, but never experienced anything paranormal themselves, so they can never be really sure if such phenomena exists.
It could really add something to your life knowing that paranormal phenomena exist, it makes you feel that there is "something" out there..

So, try to make the best of it. You are afraid? well, so is a doctor that starts a difficult surgery, and is afraid he or she will lose the patient without being able to do anything about it.. You got a rare ability, I say embrace it.

Firstly, I believe that when it's your time, it's your time and thats it. If you were meant to die, you will die. Have you seem final destination? Similar concept, although that's been embellished for theatrical reasons.

Anyway, is it not possible to become lucid in those dreams and will them to change, somehow? Like has been said, induce a different conversation, or do something to act it out differently.

Having said that, however, maybe you were meant to act if out in that different way, and that's how it's going to happen in the waking world.

As far as I see it, basically it comes down to this:
• Don't let it distract you from your normal life, don't lose sleep over it (any more than usual), don't slit your wrists, don't cry yourself to sleep
• Try to attain lucidity and see what happens
• If you're going to die, you're going to die. Simple, nothing you can do about it. Get over it. Make ammends, say your sorry's, experience life while you can.
• If you die, come back and tell someone about it

Hmmm I'm curious
How long are these "clips" of dream?
Have you actually seen anything happen that you recorded in your dream journal?
What do you mean when you say that you can't do anything to stop things from playing out? Is there just not enough time to react, or are you somehow compelled not to do anything?

I find things like this very interesting

I don't frequently dream of the future, I think. However, I would like to tell you to relax! In my opinion, you can consider what you have to be a gift. Many would love to have your gift!

In dreaming, you naturally went into Concentration (or Access concentration; I can't recall the Pali name for it right now), and this is where you can access psychic powers like clairvoyance. You can even develop this abilitiy/power if you want, if you know how. Just avoid the pitfalls of being attached to or obsessed with psychic powers.

Nothing to worry about. Just use your gift for wholesome causes and you should be fine

I haven't tried it, but I believe some outcomes can be changed if it is within one's Karma.

If you're worried about the 23 months i can only give my 2 cents...

When you next feel the sense coming of deja-vu, try to change your actions. Simple stuff eg if in the dream you were sitting down, stand up. Or if you were about to have a drink, chuck it on the ground instead.
Then maybe you can advance to completely alltering the situation.
And if it creates a black vortex to consume the universe, then...

But if it is completely out of your control; say its another persons actions. Then I guess there's not much you can do.

For like 2 weeks straight, everyday something from my dreams would happen. It really started to piss me off how I had seen all the stuff before, so I decided to try and figure out what in my dreams would happen when I woke up every morning... It didn't work. The things that happened would always just be small parts of the dreams, so it wouldn't be things that I would think to remember. Then I just gave up on it all together and it hasn't happened since.

I've had this happen as well, like I had a dream about the World Trade Centers being destroyed by Airplanes 2 months before it happened. At the time I thought that it was just a silly dream, 2 planes running into the massive buildings.

That wasn't so silly was it?

The dreams never seem to be things I can change though, it's never anything very useful either, like a vision of all the answers on the test.

I'm not at all frightened by it, and I just try to use the vision to the best of my ability, like if I have a vision or dream about me nearly having an accident, I'll drive carefully, things like that...

It's amazing how many people have precognitive dreams, and still the view of mainstream science is that paranormal phenomena does not exist. There are only a few parapsychologists out there, and they hardly get funding for their research.

The uncanny ability of scientists to shut their eyes in the face of phenomena that does not fit into their dogma is flabergasting.

Odd stuff, I have that on occasion, but never in the form of a Precognitive Dream.

You just have to make sure that it doesn't make an akward silence.

So I phone up my friend one day bothering to go and play on his Brand Spanking new Wii. I say to him "I hope you don't have to go to a funeral today, because I'm going to your place to play your Wii!" (We joke like this)

Turns out his Grandmother passed away recently.

*cough*

I hope that wasn't precognitive and just my absence of tact. Honestly, how would I have known?
