      Humans and cats alike?

ok, I'm a 4th year biology student, and the other day, my vertebrate zoology prof said something interesting. He said that cats are the only animal on the planet that dream (besides us). Apparently they are the only other species that "dream" like we do, they have very deep sleep like humans. So your dog running in the air on his back- isn't dreaming. I found this very surprising. Now, I'm not sure what this means, but it makes you think. Like if you think back to the Egyptians that treated cats like gods, I wonder if its related... probably isn't but, just felt like sharing this and to see if anybody else had heard of this before.

Thats what I thought too, my prof could always just be full of it. But he did seem pretty sure of what he was saying. Maybe he's up to date on something that's not part of manestream science yet?

Dogs dream for sure. My friend has a dog and they can tell what he's dreaming about by how he moves. For instance, it's obvious when he dreams of catching a frisby. It's funny to watch actually.

I'm sorry, but I think your professor is wrong. There is no reason a cat should be able to dream, and a dog, or any other mammal besides a human cannot. I would be interested to hear his logic behind that statement.
